It would be interesting to do a real test on R1/R4 hillside performance. I mow a couple of hillsides at my Mom-in-law's place that I had used R1's on for years. The tractor kinda "crabs" its way along the hill, with the rear farther downhill than the front. I have only used the other tractor (with R4's) one time on the hill, and it actually seemed more stable. Another shorter but steeper hill can only be mowed up and down with the R1's, but I can mow across with the R4's. The feel (maybe sitting higher?) of the tractor with the R4's is such that on a long hill, the pucker factor is higher.
Outside of getting the kids to hang onto a rope on the ROPS and go for the threshold of upsidedownness, it would be tough for me to give you real data. Whatever the difference, it's not night-and-day........................chim
