About five years ago, I made rice for dinner. My middle daughter found a few nicely cooked worms in her portion of the rice and asked: "How come I have rice with ribs" Seems you could make out the segmented body and even the eyes. I still remind her about her rice with ribs. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

A number of years ago, while my son was playing a baseball game, I was snacking on a bag of those salted unshelled sunflower seeds. Seems they go good with baseball for some reason. I popped a couple in my mouth and proceeded to bite down to break the outside shell...didn't feel or taste quite right. Pretty salty but bitter and kinda soft-centered.

Pulled it out and it looked like some kind of bug at first, a little bigger than the unshelled seed. After studying it for a minute, I concluded that it was a mouse fetus. I always check my seeds now.

A few years back my wife and I were vacationing in the Niagra Falls area. While lunching at a small deli in Olde Niagra Village (Canada), I noticed my fork was not stabbing into a pile of frech-fries. Upon closer inspection it turned out to be a coated CIGARETTE BUTT! My wife nearly got sick at the table. When we confronted the cook/owner with the filter and tobacco remnants she did not even blink an eye and said "So??" We first asked for a refund, but, was told that we did indeed eat a few bites of our meals and some of the fries, so, she was going to pro-rate our bill. At that point I demanded a full refund, telling her that if she waits long enough she would have those same pieces we ate back up on her counter (the whole time my poor wife was dry heaving and was on the verge of fullfilling my prediction). She finally gave us our cash back (in Canadian money, not the US currency we paid with). She made some derogatory 'ugly-American' comment and we left.
Well, needless to say we are not smokers, but, we laugh about it now. Whenever we see cigarette butts on the ground we say "Look french-fries!" Never did determine if the butt was menthol... Furthermore, first vacation I ever took where I LOST weight

A good number of years back Consumer Reports did a review of candy bars. They found larvae in the almond containing bars and did a little research. They found out it is common. Their recommendation?? Enjoy the almond containg bars - just don't buy and eat them in a dark movie theatre.

I have a good friend that does some construction work at a well known breakfast pastry plant. He said that while he talked to a manager he mentioned the insects flying around. According to him the goverment inspectors allow a certain percentage of contamination of the ingredients. This guy doesn't bs.

Well, I contacted the makers of the candy bar, and they sent me $21.00 worth of coupons for more of their candy! My son was thrilled,...go figure?! So now he can get free big bags of M&M's. All for eating a worm egg or two! I told him to check the M&M's for bugs! but the kids don't care. Oh well, kids will be kids!!
