BEWARE SCAMERS ON THIS SITE

A while back I spotted an obvious scammer and played him along with intentions of trapping him.
Local police blew me away.
RCMP literally likewise as they referred me to phone busters.
Phone b said they did not have the budget to follow up unless it was major international scam fraud.
They suggested budget restraints and court delays and costs incurred as the reason.
Long and short is since nobody is dead they don't care.
Long and short is under $5k. nobody cares.

The silliest one I inquired about was a nearby (?) Ebay sale where they replied the tractor had been shipped to Portugal while the Ebay listing was active. "But just send a deposit, you don't have to finish payment until we get it back in the States for you". WTH??

I think the title of the thread should have been beware scammers everywhere, not just this site. It makes it sound like a TBN issue, when it's not. Scammers are everywhere.

All your tractors am belonging to us. ;)

+1 with MossRoad. Unfair to blame TBN.

It is fun to play with scammers, tho... :D

Why do you assume I blame TBN? I never blamed or suggested this was a TBN issue, only that Scaming exists here on this site and to be watchful.

For those potentially selling on this site, beware. I advertised a Kubota BX25D and have been contacted by (2) different POSs in the last (2) weeks. First guy's email was similar, he wanted my PayPal info to send me the $, then he would have the tractor picked up by his 'shipper' a few weeks later. I asked where he lived and he responded a location about 2 hours from my home. I responded, "perfect, what a coincidence, I'll be there next week visiting my daughter, I can deliver it to you" calling his bluff. Then he balked and said he would be out of town 3000 miles away. Here's the 2nd email from a different guy today:

Subject: Re: Used 2014 Kubota BX25

I really would like to buy the 2014 Kubota BX25 and As for the payment I will be issuing you out check that you can cash instantly plus I will get a private shipping agent who will come pick up in your location after check is received by you. My shipper ships Auto's as his specialization and right now he is out of town for some pick up and can't be located at the moment, so in order for there not to be any delay in this purchase I would be sending both you and my shipping agent money with extra fees for insurances together on the check that will be sent to you. when you get it deduct yours $17,000 and send the rest to the shipping agent wherever he may be, that's when I must have located him and let you know where to send it so he can use it to get down to your place for the pick up. I will need your Full Name, Full Mailing Address and Cell Phone Number so as to send out payment today.

Pretty obvious. Be careful out there.

Last summer, I put a truck and a landscape trailer up for sale locally and on ebay. I finally had to turn off my phone from the number of emails, text messages and calls that were scams that I got on those two items. Got calls, emails and txts at all times of the day and night even after I said in the ads no calls after 10 PM EST. Couldn't believe it! Some of them were really creative. With the trailer, could I move it up to the road, (unlocked, so the brakes could be properly tested) and the individual would come by between midnight and 4 AM to check it out. He was out of town and needed the trailer for a job ASAP. He would leave cash for it in my mailbox. Oh, could I leave the title and a bill of sale signed in the mailbox. He would fill in the blanks. This guy actually emailed me the next day and asked me again after he didn't hear back from me.

I can't tell you how many, "is it still for sale", emails and txts messages that I received or the would I take 1/10 of the asking price in cash. Or the, could they pay me half now and then the rest monthly for the next year. Oh, they wanted to take the truck or trailer with their down payment. Just unbelievable! I guess a lot of people have nothing to do but waste other people's time.

I got similar offers for a tractor. Swap a 'treasured bicycle' was one. Aluminum house siding, from another.

I play along.....get them to pay for sending that fake check, then add it to my collection. At least they are out postage on the deal.

When they email "Did you get the check ?"

I reply "Yeah, but I've decided to keep your money, and the item.....I'm really not very honest....that's a problem when dealing with people on the internet..." :)

:drink:

Had a guy offer me payments on a used truck on Craig's list. I told him "Sure.....no problem. So much a month until it's paid off. Only thing is, the truck sits here at my house and you don't get it until it's paid off". He didn't like my plan much.....ahahahaaa
