That. Is. Awesome.I play along.....get them to pay for sending that fake check, then add it to my collection. At least they are out postage on the deal.
When they email "Did you get the check ?"
I reply "Yeah, but I've decided to keep your money, and the item.....I'm really not very honest....that's a problem when dealing with people on the internet..."
They usually go ballistic....threaten me with police action, jail time, etc.....I play along and generally they finally resort to begging me to send the shipper the funds...ahahhaaaa.....I like to see how long we can string it out before they give up.
If more people would do this, they'd at least have to come up with a better scam.
A local kid was scamming people by offering a set of Mercedes rims, taking the money, then sending a fake shipping receipt. This was reported on a Subaru WRX website. Within a few hours, the guys there had tracked down the scammer痴 email to a local community college. They got his name and address, went to his house, told his dad what was going on, and came away with the rims. For extra credit, they reported his criminal misuse of the school email system to the Dean.
But the best ever may have been the guy who worked at home in a basement office. Thieves broke into the home. He went out the back door, and found a van idling in his driveway. So he drove away in it while he called 911. The 911 operator told him to stop because the van was stolen....

Well, the scammer contracted me today:
Hello Troy, The Check $24,200 will come in your mail today, when you get it deduct your money $17,000 and I will let you know where to send the rest cash to the picker so the 2014 Kubota BX25 can be picked. Kindly get back to confirm you got my message. Thanks
He's sending me $24,200 for my $17,000 tractor. BTW, the address I sent him was my local Sheriff. ;^)
