Kubota L3540 Cab
Only had my new L3540 Cab a week when I tried to take the back hoe off to do some box grader work. No matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get the pin on the left side out. I called the dealer and they sent a tech out to check it. After him trying for a hour he loaded up the machine and took it back to the shop. That was last Friday. I called today and they told me that there seems to be a problem with the subframe mount on the left side. They have mounted and unmounted 4 different frames and they all have the same problem with the left side pin hole being missalligned so that the pin will not go in or out. It looks like there is a problem when they fabricated the mount. The Kubota rep has been called and they are looking into the problem. I'll keep you posted on the outcome. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this.

I had a similar problem the first time I tried to take the hoe off my B3200 - the alignment seems very sensitive. I really had to screw around to get it in just the right position so the pin would pull out.

In comparison I like the setup on the BX23 I had better - a clasp that grabs a pin mounted to the subframe. Lots easier to line up connect - or disconnect.

Are you saying the mount on the BH is possibly the problem and not the sub-frame?

I guess the dealer doesn't have another BH to try on your tractor or they would have tried it.

I had the same thought. That will be my question this morning when I call for an update. I think the BH is in short supply.

Talked to the dealer yesterday. He had the Kubota rep in to look at the problem. The conclusion is that there is a batch of defective subframe parts. It seem that when they welded the left side subframe assembly they were missaligned. The rep said they had this problem a while back with the BH90 too. Everyone is scratching their head right now trying to figure out a solution. I'll keep you posted.

Update: Kubota has issued a TSB for subframes in a certian serial number string. The dealer "fixed" my frame to get my machine back up but is waiting for a new subframe to replace the "fixed" one.

That is good news. I know I am late to the party by a few years, but I definitely have this same problem with my BH92 . . . for mine, the left-side (from tractor driver's perspective, not backhoe operator's perspective) pin comes out easily, but the right-side one is really hard to remove or install. I need to carefully whack at it with a hammer for 10-15 minutes to get it out. It's a bummer.

If anyone has detail on the TSB please post it here.

Thanks,
John

I have a BH90, 2012 model and the left side from the BH operators seat is a hard one to get out. I finally found out using a combination of outrigger and the backhoe itself I could move it just enough to pull the pin. If there is a recall I would like to know also as this is a sore spot on removing the BH for other attachments.

Better to have a snug fit, one might think. It might free up with some use, although I have one loader pin that needs a few taps to go in, even now after 8 years.

My dealer looked it up but said my backhoe was not subject to any recall on the issue. When the weather improves I may spend a few hours trying to isolate the problem and correct it.
