BH hookup ?

Hey Ditzel , the 3/8 lines could be part of the problem also, I have 1/2 lines going to my bh90 hoe on my kubota, I figure it's kinda like plumbing water lines, if you are running only one cylinder, 3/8 would be ok, but the hoe has 5 or 6 cylinders, so you need the bigger line for volume? I'm not sure, but you probably hate to have to get all new lines? but htat may be all thats wrong.

Talked to Woods tech support again. They put us on a 3 way call with one of their engineers, they said it might be a bad quick connect or the flow diverter might be bad. Today I finally had a couple hours to work on this and I removed the both sets of quick connects and removed the flow diverter and still have the same problem. The bh works but at about a 1/4 of the speed it should. I'm taking justcountry's advice and going to go with 1/2 in hoses.

detzil,
Woods tech is more than likely right. Your 3/8" hose is plenty. Going to 1/2" will just be throwing money away. I would change the quick connectors before anything else.

I was curious, are you tee'd into the tank port or the pump return? My hoe goes back into the pressure return not the tank port. Also, I'm not sure what the pressure diverter does and how it works. Is it attached to the tractor or the hoe? I think I read you right, you removed both the QC and the diverter and it still is slow? good luck:)

One more question, Is the hoe really slow when operating one function or multiple.

I already replaced each of the 2 sets of quick connects, one set at a time, with a straight coupling. There was no change. One reason I'm going to change the hoses is you can hear and feel some resistance where the 3/8 male threaded end of the hose is when the tractor is running. I'm hoping the hose ends are my problem.

JUSTCOUNTRY bullseye! give that man a cigar! The 1/2" hoses just came today from TSC. Swaped them out with the 3/8" and the hoe works like a 2 dollar hoe on dollar day! What a difference. It moves at a perfect speed with the idle set as low as it will go.

Man thats great, I wasnt sure if that would do it , I was just grasping at straws. I have heard of people with grapples using 1/4" lines instead of 3/8 to slow the action down when they use the electric valve. so i figured the opposite would be true. I'm reallly glad you got it figured out, and it will also teach the rest of us something. take care:)

Great, glad you got it fixed!, I would have thought the 3/8 line would have been fine for your rated GPM!

The 3/8 line may have been fine for the application. Perhaps you just have a bad line with a collapsed/split inner liner restricting the flow. You could put them back on one at a time to check this. Would be a real pain to use them in another project and wonder what the problem was with the design. I hate pulling bad parts off the shelf...
