I am starting this thread to compile some information on this hoe since seem to read a lot of problems with it.
If you want to participate just enter if you have the BH75 or BH90 and what failed or if had no problems, post that you've had no problems.

Example:Here is mine.
------------------------------
Dipper cylinder rod cracked in half -2005
Dipper cylinder rod bent -2006
problems happen when digging stumps and or roots, technic very important with this hoe.
-------------------------------
If you've had no problems, that would be important to know too.

First let me say: Hi All! I've been lurking around here for about a year and it turns out this is my first post. Lots of good info around here and I appreciate it. I've had my B3030 w/loader and BH75 for about a year now. I recently completed about 120' of 5' to 6' deep trenching through ALOT of roots, good ole PA clay (thats gotta make excellent pottery) and a few goonies, one large enough it had to be jackhammered out. My BH75 is one of the early ones with the smaller diameter dipper cylinder. I think I've read all the threads on the problems with the backhoe. I have to say that:
--------------------------------------
I have had NO problems with the BH75
--------------------------------------
BUT I am careful how I dig with it because of the problems I have heard of. I do most of my digging with the dipper. I use the bucket like a shovel and push the shovel with the dipper. I never curl the bucket (from a bucket cylinder retacted position, I.E. bucket and dipperstick inline) Unless I have the dipper cylinder spool at least cracked, if not fully open. If you try to dig with the bucket in that way, a large compressive load is placed on the dipper stick cylinder by the action of the bucket curling. With the dipper spool centered, The relief valve cannot protect the cylinder because it is behind the spool valve. The dipper cylinder is in effect "capped off" and loading the cylinder will build proportional pressure (Force=Pressure/Area) until a hose burst or rod seal fails. Or the cylinder buckles. Once you have the bucket curled about 90 degrees relitave to the dipper stick, any further curling forces translate to loads placed on the boom cylinder. All that being said, I still wish I had the updated larger dipper cylinder. While I agree that Kubota (and most other product manufacturers) may be cutting the design stress safety margins a little close, you just can't take the approach of "build it big and it will take care of itself" anymore and stay in business.
Well, thats my $0.02 for my first post anyway.

I am interested in all things related to compact tractor backhoes,
primarily of the 7.5-ft (80") size. It would be useful to know if owners
of the BH75 or 4690 are ever checking their pressures with a guage
at the cylinders. Also....if tractor hydraulics vs PTO pump is used.

If you can bend or break any part of your hoes by curling the bucket
under max dipper stick load, you are either running at too high pressure
or you have a poorly built unit. I have no problems with my Prairie
Dog 7.5 hoes at 2500 psi, doing exactly that.

Finally, I am collecting dimensional data for various hoes, in order to do
a calculated performance comparison. I need dipper stick cyl OD, the
distance betw the upper dipstick cyl pin and the upper dipstick pin, and
the distance between the upper dipstick pin and the lowest pin hole on
the dipstick. I have no numbers yet for these 2 Kubota hoes. If anyone
will provide these #, I would appreciate it.

After a few hours of purchase I broke the dipperstick cylinder in half, I was not even close to the frame so I don't buy that.

Yesterday I bent the whole dipper arm!!!! Bucket is twisted to the right..

This is digging on one stump for about 20 minutes, old stump soft roots nothing too major.

One thing I have noticed on mine is excessive play in the dipper arm, almost 5 inch arch at the bucket in side to side movement, makes me wonder if others that have had breakage have this slop? If its off a little the pressures are enormous.

Anyway I have been around equipment my whole life, the bh75 is a joke. get the new groundbreaker x. What good is it if they cannot do what they were designed to do?

BH75, bent curl cylinder & loose/ lost hardware on joy sticks.

I'm very happy with my BH75, been using it over a year now.

No problems and no complaints from me.

(I had loose hardware on the joy sticks to - I don't consider this a problem, nothing that a wrench and 15 minutes didn't resolve)

B2630/BH75 after 54 hrs.

BH75 problems:

1. Bucket teeth came loose (easy fix)

2. Boom went over center (toward operator) 2 times. Kubota knows about this problem (according to my dealer) and is working on a solution. I had to chain the bucket to a tree and slowly drive forward to get the boom back in the proper position.

3. Bent pad on one of the stabilizers.

BH90 here and love it. Guys the trick to not breaking stuff is a lower RPM setting and just go slow. I have heard alot of complaints about the BH/75, But I will tell you if you go slow you should have no problem. I always keep the rpm at 1200 or so on the L3130. If it gets stuck It will just stop and not break a cylinder. There are people who are happy with the Bota stuff. I'm not saying there are no defects either as I'm sure there is. If your not happy with bota hoes get a Woods then. I think they have a curved boom now, But i'm sure thats expensive.

I can't say I've heard of an abnormal amount of problems with these. The 75's did have the dipper cylinder upgraded, that was a known issue - but the BH90 has been on the market for a long time with no abnormal failures rates that I've noticed. We also sell Woods, Bush Hog and Bradco backhoes and I can't say that we see one brand holding up much better than the others. There are feature and performance differences between them, but I'd not say one is more reliable than another.

Well said MessickFarmEqu........... Not sure if you remember me or not, but you gave me great info on my L3130 for my needs. It has worked better then I imaged. Thanks for you help in my selection of a tractor. :)
