Tractor
2017 NH Workmaster 33. Previous tractor: NH TC24D
I have a 14 foot dual axle, dual brake trailer that is 13 years old. I used it to trailer my small New Holland TC24D tractor and implements. The tractor weighed approximately 2400-2600 lbs with loader. Then add a 5 foot rotary cutter, and I was maxed out on what the trailer could pull. I just traded in that tractor for a 2017 NH Workmaster 33 that weighs 4200 lbs with weighted rears and a loader. Add a rotary cutter at about 525 lbs and I need a trailer that can haul about 4800-5000 lbs.

My question is this: My current trailer needs to be rewired, maybe just a new plug but ? Anyway, it has sat outside for 4 years unused. Lights and brakes will not work. I really do not have the knowledge to mess with it, and just want to move on to a trailer that will accommodate my new tractor. I would prefer to just try to trade it in for a new trailer with Big Tex or a comparable trailer company.

Should I look for a pipe top 7000# or a flat top that is 10,000 lb gvw? And 18 foot, 20 foot? My new tractor with loader bucket attached it just over 10 feet, I normally use a 5 foot rotary cutter that is 7-8 feet behind the tractor.

This question may seem obvious to some, but it has confused me for several months!😅

I have both pipe top and flat bed. The flat bed is more versatile. My flat bed is 18 ft and has a 7000 pound rating. The trailer weighs 1500 pounds. So, I can haul 5500 pounds. I recently up graded to an L4060 Kubota with loaded rear tires which means I would have to take the loader off to haul it without being overweight. If you can, get the 20 foot 10,000 pound trailer.

Your new tractor is going to put that 7000# trailer close to it's max capacity. The flat deck is more versatile than the pipe top. I'd go with the flat deck 10,000# trailer. And I'd go for the 20' instead of the 18' - it will give you more room to properly balance the load for the proper tongue weight.

Thanks, I hadn’t considered balancing the load, so I will go with a 20 footer
