As long as I have all the long time owners and do-it-yourselfers available. I would like to ask the following question:

What is the largest repair you have/would do on your 'Bota? Following that train: What is the most expensive part you have broken? (I know Kubmech and Dr Deere have fixed EVERYTHING. How about the rest of you?)

Great question/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Does a fan belt count as a repair? That's all the approx. 12 yr. old faithful B7100 has required.
Broken?/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif The entire front assy. on an L4610 after one log in the large pile I was moving with FEL popped over it and cleared the guard, spearing the front of the tractor. About $300. for that. The sheet metal could of been straightened but not on my new tractor.

How many hours on that 7100? A fan belt is not bad in 12 years. Accidental stuff like spearing yourself (there's a pretty good thread on that back about a year ago), Is nice to know too. These things are tough, but not dozers. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Here is a post that might interest you. A few of the problems that I've had over the years.

Gordon,

That is a great thread! Looks like most of the broken stuff was accidental. Do you still have the tractor? How many hours are you up to?

Brings back teenage memories. Torn hydraulic hoses, speared radiators and the cylinder on the log loader that I kept breaking because I rotated the clam too far. Thought my brother was going to beat my brains out for that one! Once a week, tear it down and weld that stupid cylinder back up. No wonder I was encouraged to pursue other career paths. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Gordon, I think I can safely say that's the most hours I've ever seen on any Kubota. I wonder what the record is.
congrats..........

If you want long life out of a Kubota this is what I've figured out.
Run the tar out of it.
Keep clean filters and fresh fluids in it.

Just hope my 4310 holds up like the 3750 did.

Most of the breakdowns I had were caused by me. There were a couple of weak points on that tractor. Front axle design and axle/wheel seals. Guess it didn't help running it in deep muck alot of the time. But the loader was tough as nails.

There a few Kubotas around here that have more than that. Alot of it is having the same operator on it day in and day out.

The B7100 has 805 hrs on her(him if you ask my wife)/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.It has done some major projects, pre.L4610, just takes longer.
gordon hit the nail on the head/w3tcompact/icons/smile.giffluid, filters, and I would add a regular wash and wax. I've been offered more than I paid for her new but I relate to post in another thread about the 84 yr. old(/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif not there yet) not going to sell.

Gordon,

I noticed the problem you had with seals, axle and pto. Other than that it appeared to be the normal stuff you get when tearing through brush and dragging trees around.

So far, out to 10,000 hours the only thing I'm hearing is belts and seals, and normal maintenance.

SHF, here you go, had to look up the letter I sent with the 400 hour service. Now at 600 hours. L2650DT, FEL, BH. Tractor replace front steering knuckle boots, one lower lift arm pen. FEL none.(sorry just remembered replace bolt holding chain slip hook, bolt feel off , but found hook) BH replace hose fitting, and several grease fittings. All from being banged into something. Also since then reweld the exhaust stack that a tree took off. Cost of stack $10, five minutes off,45 minutes on as did under hood maintainace. Biggest cost was to add the heavy duty top link bracket for the backhoe and install the backhoe correctly. Total for all service just under $1000, with the dealer doing all the work. That would make my total operating cost under $1500, for just under 4 years... Boy that looks good when you put it on paper. But hang on will soon due the 600 hour service on it, there goes another $100.
