Biggest Repair?

I have seen a lot of different things. Dusted engines are the most costly. I did an engine on a B8200 with 80 hrs. because the guy didn't keep the air filter clean ($3500). Transmission gears from people running the PTO in high range ($1200-2500). Front differentials from bevel cases seals going bad and losing all the gear oil "it use to leak but then it stopped" (up to $3500). I guess I'm saying the same as everybodyelse, the most costly repairs are from abuse or neglect.

Does two flat tires, one broken hose on the backhoe, in 600 hours count? Oh, those were all my fault, so maybe not.

The engine has not been tore down as of yet. But it does have blowby and isn't the cleanest burning tractor in town. Clutch, starter, injectors, injector pump were the more expensive items. Yea I guess I can't complain. I hope the seal design on the 4310 axle is improved. Time will tell. Any comments you Kub mechs ?

I don't baby my equipment I run the heck out of it but I keep it maintained. That is the key for long equipment life.

Seal design on the 10s is still pretty much the same. Kubota's still trying, had a few updates, but still a trouble spot.

Okay, so far what I'm getting is that rubber parts (hoses, seals, belts) are the only weak link. So, when that front axle seal goes out at 10,000 hours, is it better to have the dealer replace it, or do it yourself?

Rogue is gonna smack my head for asking about dealer repairs. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Is the reference to trans gears due to running the PTO in high the same issue that drives the wording in the owners manual (B2710) not to mow in high?? If so, wondering what the problem is. I use medium, but would love to use high on some straightaways. Seems that as long as the engine didn't load-up it shouldn't make a difference. But, better safe than sorry.

I'd definatly let the dealer do it. By the time I hit 10,000 hours on my BX I'll be 114 years old. ;^)

Rogue,

I think your use for the BX will increase the longer you have it. So, you'll hit the 10k mark sooner than you think. Especially when you start using it to commute! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
