I loaned one of my trailers to my neighbor. When I got it back both low hanging lights were broken off from where he backed up a hill. He was nice enough to cover the cost of new, higher quality lights and helped me mount them higher up on the trailer. So as I see it, he did me a favor. We straightened the license plate back out and mounted it via a strip of heavy rubber so it would swing if something did hit it. It was a lousy design from the factory that you see quite often in trailers. While we were at it, I also mounted rock deflectors on the new side clearance lights which had been broken by gravel being thrown up by the wheels. You'd think they could foresee such obvious deficiencies during manufacturing.

Also, have you ever noticed the seldom seem to make trailer safety chains long enough.

Yes chains often are too short. I way over built all the trailers I made from my experiences on the farm. Things like my tilt trailers pivoted from 3 points to make sure it always came down on center regardless of the incline. We had tilt trailers on the farm and if you were not on flat ground they would come down off the tongue. Then it was a pain to get them back center.

My issue with the business was mass produced trailers were being sold cheaper than I could buy the steel. Then you factor in the time I spent making sure the thing would last 3 generations left me priced out of the market. I built a lot of custom stuff but it just wasn't enough profit to continue. That venture lasted about 10 years before I had enough. Lol

Thanks to BigTex for doing a wonderful job on the Tractor! Picked it up today so they only had it for one week. It was nice to see how busy they were today.

They called me a couple of times with questions which I really appreciate. I haven't gone over it well yet but feel like everything was done with no issues.

Picked up a new compressor today for my service pallet build. Now to source the proper box for air tools and stuff. I might start building the framework for it this weekend. The compressor fits the pallet perfectly.

Had a great afternoon with my Dad yesterday. He was impressed with the Branson and he isn't easily impressed. Probably the smallest cab tractor he ever drove and seamed to be having fun trying her out! Afterwards he said we need to get 100 acres or so and plant some cotton. :laughing:

This post means holds a special place in my heart. Dad just went to be with the Lord. Hopefully God has some fields that need some work. Dad sure loved farming and enjoyed playing with my tractors. I will miss our Saturday morning calls to watch the tractor shows together!

Thanks guys! He was one of the good ones. He had such a mechanical mind. I usually can get there but it takes me a little bit of looking things over. He would just walk up on my projects and say all you need to do is this boy. Lol
