Biodegradable Diesel Rated Oil?

Soundguy and Alan,

It was me who threw the term 'Hazardous Waste' into my post about a small spot here that won't grow anything. I'm using the term like a layman and I'm sorry to pull both of you into a discussion of just when used oil crosses the line into that legal category.

If it makes any difference, I agree with Soundguy that dumping oil is simply to be avoided, and also need to say Alan, the control/recycle/disposal operation described on your site sounds like a model that any large user should apply. And the rest of us need to learn to work toward the same goals.

I really am learning something here. That military plan is the most concise and comprehensive plan that I've read about.

As for the CFR's - If the sections you guys are talking about are anything like the inscrutable mystery known as 48 CFR then you can probably make them support, or refute, near anything. I definitely don't want to go there - BTDT!

In summary lets get back on topic - as RWEST just said
Does anyone have any thoughts on the actual "green" guys' product. Seems like a neat idea, to me, anyway.

Geeze!! And here I thought we'd just be talking about some new, possibly cost effective oil technology, that comes from a source that doesn't give the tree-huggers anything to complain about. Oh, wait. I forgot about the methane that flatulent cows generate. :(

Sorry for taking it so far off course, but to be honest, some of what bugs me so much, is what lets these guys operate.

I bet I get at least one sales guy a week in my office to sell me the latest "wonder Cleaner" that the oil will magically go away. That said, 95% of them are hokey pokey junk that have no idea of what they are saying and what the regulations are. Then they want to apply the regulations that apply to a homeowner, and apply them to an industrial setting.

Ie, what you can do at the house, is not neccesarily what you can do if you work at a large factory as the rules are different. (if you agree with that or not)

That said, another part of my job is too run down things like this, and try and get answer's that can be backed up, so,,, one of tomorrows projects will definetely be speaking with them.

I will bet (and I cannot find the further info on their website) that their "disposoil" is going to be a form of peat that you pour your oil into, the peat will absorb the oil and pass a paint filter leachate test, and then they will say it is safe to throw in the landfill. Anyone want to take that bet :D

Thanks for bringing it up and posting it, I will be running it down shortly, it is amazing too me if they are actually producing all those oils with what they appear to have as a unique base stock and they are all API certified.......... That would be a pretty impressive feet.

No problems, guys - I learn a lot from the discussions that go on around here.

And, I know what happens when oil gets on the ground, too. We had an incident at work many years ago where a bung wasn't installed in a barrel of supposedly empty 32AW hydraulic fluid; over time, enough rain/snow got in there to float some (maybe a quart) of the oil out and onto the ground. Next thing we know, the EPA guy's here. We had to scoop up the dirt, put it in a dumpster with oil-munching microbes and such, and, $7,500.00 later, lesson learned. :( No barrels outside. Ever.

Well, two full days after sending them an e-mail from their website and from calling them and leaving a message (and the 1-800 number had someone's name, not the business name on the message) and no return contact from them.

All the references I could find where their own generated "press releases" although I need to run down some more on the Popular Mechanics one.

Does not look to promising at this point.
