Biodiesel From Human Waste

I read one of the algae papers where the authors wanted to divert the Colorado River to flood the Sonoma desert and create a huge lake of algae.

LOL, try getting a permit to destroy endangered animal species in the desert, take all the drinking and irrigation water away from tens of millions of people, and create a toxic mess in the desert!

Also, another suggestion was to create gigantic cesspools out of the Great Lakes by flooding them with human and animal waste to grow the algae????? Beyond STOOPID to destroy the Great Lakes freshwater for transportation fuels by creating the worlds largest stinking mess.

Have set in brainstorming sessions when in the Naval Lab, and heard stories more outlandish than those comming from people with PhDs in science, and engineering. You're just dumbstruck that they would say such things out loud.

The Tyson/Conoco deal is going on right now. What I took from the article, which was this week or last, was that this was solid animal fat from Tyson's slaughter house. Tyson would supply animal fat to a nearby Conoco refinery.

The article was skimpy on these details. More into the politics and business issues.

It's good that so many alternate fuel source approaches are being investigated as it seems unlikely that one sole source will ever replace fossil fuel. Economics will eventually sort out the winners & we can only hope that the others don't leave too expensive a mess to clean up.

Long Island, NY garbage is trucked as far as Fort Wayne, Indiana or maybe further so local conversion of garbage to fuel would save haulage fuel as well.

nice 1 upraiser. Another issue that I forgot to mention is all of the middleman gouging going on in the american markets. ie a tainker of oil being sold 7x before getting to the us. coarn at the farmer being 1$ a bushal and 5$ at the retail end.
