Robert, I can't remember when I first started on the old Kubota forum. I guess compared to many, I was a late comer to the Internet, since I first got Internet service on 8/24/98, and it probably wasn't long after that when I found Muhammad's website.

Bird, got my first experience with the internet back in 1986 with Compuserve. It was all text, 300 baud modem. The funny thing was the big pitch "you can make airline reservations with Compuserve" Wow, that is so cool I thought even though I had absolutely no need to make a airline reservation. I got my first bill, it was based on the minutes of use. I think it was like $25.00. That ended it right there for me. I was using a Fat Mac back then. 512K of RAM. I believe my first experience with Kubota.com was back about the same time as you. I was signed in as Paddock (my street address). I was still leary that someone would track me down and do something to me. I tried to distance myself from any ability for someone to track me down. Things haven't changed much! :D

Wow Bird, you're kind of like a celebrity here! Before you know it people will be stopping you at the local tractor place asking you to sign their owner's manuals and such! You should work a deal with one of the tractor companies to get a Bird signature series model!!! I'm sure the TBN'ers would love to have that one. You could probably do more advertising here than in any other medium.

Well congrats. I do have a question, >20,000 posts, is that all on one mouse? That's a bunch of clicks if so! :)

RaT, you were WAY ahead of me as far as Internet usage is concerned, although I was using computers in other ways long before that. In fact, in 1986, I had the Radio Shack Model IV and a daisy wheel printer that I bought with my own money, but only used at the office, and in March of 1986, I went to the FBI National Academy for 10 weeks and put that computer and printer in the little trailer I pulled behind my Honda Aspencade motorcycle to go up there.:D I didn't start using Windows (version 3.1 of course) until I bought an IBM computer in January of 1993.

And I still don't know anything about programming, or have hardly any technical knowledge about computers; just been using them a long time for word processing, data bases, spreadsheets, and Quicken.

I was wondering about when the site came about, when it changed from Kubota only to all brands etc. I was going to ask in the the "Feedback" forum, but thought I might look around the site a little; for years I have just come straight to "Discussions".

So, I found http://www.tractorbynet.com/site/about.htm

After looking there, I think you, _RAT_, myself, and few other oldtimers came in around '98 or '99.

As the site upgraded, some dates and post counts reset. So, you are well over 20,000+ posts :D

Gosh, the 10 year anniversary of the founding is coming up in just months:D

Here are a couple of posts from 98 and 99 I have them saved as html which I don't think I can attach, so I just made them text files. Not quite the same viewing as html, but some people might remember some of the names from years past.

I remember a couple of those names. Funny, the first one reminds me of when I first got my B8200, right around the time of those posts. It was used; I got it from a dealer and just started using it to field mow. Sure enough, I found out what that weird whistle thing was; it whistled when it was hot. Fortunately, mine only chirped; I didn't get it too hot

This has been mentioned in other posts reminiscing about the early forum days; sometimes it took days for a reply back then, not the 30 seconds it sometimes takes now.

I also had just bought a used L275 and was looking for all the info I could find on tractors. I saved a few different posts that had things that could be of interest to me, and to this day still have them on my current computer. I wanted a temperature gauge instead of the whistle so I saved that one and did the mod. That was one of the first benefits I received from TBN. Over the years I have always been on the side watching, daily, all the changes that have taken place. Finally I decided I might as well join. If you remember in the early days you could post without being a member. Does anyone remember the chat feature? It was short lived (maybe a couple of weeks). I think Muhammad was living in New York, and was a participant of the chat, if I remember correctly.
