BH does not mean bird house.

Looks like I won't be using the backhoe for a couple of weeks.

This bird moves quick. She used strips of cedar bark to make the nest. She is smaller than a sparrow. Any one have a clue what kind of bird this is?

Txdon,

I had the same thing happen to my F-250 pickup. Just before I left town 3 weeks ago there was a robins nest on the right rear spring perch. I got back yesterday and it looks like they flew the coop! I will check tomorrow, I need to go pick up some tractor stuff....

Sorry, no clue as to what yours is /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Your bird must be similar to the one that's made two nests in my barbecue grill in the last three weeks. The eggs look similar. Kathy had an extension cord reel that got used for the same thing in her carport. Tis the season. . .

BTW: Kathy tells me you and Mrs. Don have a 30-yr event coming up soon. Any truth to that rumor?

Jim, If I remember right your wedding day will mark our 30 year 3 day anniversary.

If you can post a picture of the bird itself my wife most likely can ID the bird for you. Can't tell much from the nest or eggs though.

Don, it's better for BH to stand for bird house than BEE HIVE! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looking at the structure of the nest and the egg coloration, I believe you have a Wren nesting in your hoe. I had an old pair of tennis shoes I sat on the railing on the back porch. I returned to get them a couple of days later and found a Wren nesting in them. This year the wife hung a flower pot with flowers off of the trellis and we now have a wren nesting in the middle of her flowers. They are quite tame and are fun to watch. Here is a site with a picture of the suspect House Wren

txdon,

It's almost certainly a wren. They are relatively small. They often will build several nests before they settle down. I've thown at least 5 nests out of my shop this year - - luckily, I found them before any eggs were laid.

You are a patient guy to do without your tractor because of a nesting wren. Good luck.

You shouldn't be out of commission long. A bird similar coloration built a nest in one of my wife's hanging baskets. Laid 4 eggs in about 4 days ending about june 2. Left on vacation June 4 and returned on June 13. Bird and eggs were gone. Hanging basket was not reachable by any ground critters and the nest was intact with no damage, so I guess they hatched and left in that time.
