Tractor
TC40D
Thanks to all, blue, green, red, orange, etc.

Did lots of reading, more thinking, had fun on the lots too!

Took the boss: had to get a hydro if I wanted to continue
the local tradition of "the wife mows".

The TC40D gets delivered in a couple of weeks: 16LA, all three rear
remotes, TNT, of course, HD bucket with teeth, block heater (it do get
cold here in N.H.), loaded R4's and a LP 35 series rear blade with the
hydraulic option, of course.

Total cost was list for the major items, FEL, blade and tractor, with
no additional cost for the noted options: total 25K.

The tractor is one of 5 or so on the lot, I got to pick, of course,
but it will require the hydraulics install, dealer prep, and the arrival of
the rear blade, which is at least a week away. Besides, it's my self
selected birthday present, the only way to go, by the way, and I
still have some wood to split, so two weeks of "waiting" is about right.

Been about 6 hours since closure, and have done the operator's manual
about three times....

It's gonna be a long two weeks.....

Is it just me or does that seem like a high price? I have never priced a compact to know for sure but your tractor cost the same as my TN 65 with loader and MFWD. Granted you get a blade and top and tilt but I wouldn't think they would be worth much more than $2k which would mean your tractor still cost around $23k. I am not trying to be rude or anything but the price did shock me somewhat for what you get.

Robert, I agree that $25k is high. By comparison, my TC45D with a single remote, no TNT, no block heater, no rear hyd adjustable blade, was only $21.9k. I hope he gets really good service because I think his dealer made a little extra on him. Unfortunately, it's hard to know what the best price is when orange or green would cost more than $25k. I hate to say it because I sure don't want to "rain on his parade" but the price is on the high side.

Robert go and price a series 35 blade with hydraulics and then repost. The blade alone is worth a grand easy with hydraulics. Let alone the T&T, three remotes, loaded tires, heavy duty bucket. Sounds to me like he did ok price wise. But then again I'm a Kubota man. But options are options no matter what and they all add to the price of the tractor.

Congrats on your new tractor

I figured roughly $2k for the blade and tnt, I do not want to diminish his buying experience but I was surprised that his price reached that high, I had three remotes on my TN also so the biggest difference between them is the blade, R-4's and tnt. It does raise another question as to what the average price is for a TC 40d. I think if more people knew what other people paid it would help them when they buy theirs, kind of give them an idea if the dealer is paying next months bills also with your purchase. When I move to my farm I will consider a compact but for that price I would get a TN series with Galaxy turfs instead.

the 3 dealers in NH where he bought this tractor tend to be higher priced than average. But on a brighter note they offer very good service after the sale.

His price is about what I was quoted. I was looking at the TC45, loader, syncro, 3 remotes, MFWD and was hit at about $23,500. One of a few reasons that moved me to the TN65.

So what is it then, New Holland raises the prices for the compacts because of demand or have they always been this high?

Boy you guys really rained on this guys parade. If someone askes BEFORE they buy what a good price is, I'd be sure to offer an opinion, but now the poor guys tractor hasn't even shown up and we all have him convinced he got screwed...

Yeah, and I'm not so sure he did get screwed at all. Top 'n Tilt ain't cheap, hydraulics on the blade?, teeth on the bucket, 3 remotes? I don't know enough about the pricing of those models to really have a valid opinion, but sounds like he's getting it all rigged very well to start with.
