I love my rigs, and the memories with them. I also hate payments, so tend to keep them. Unless they have a big problem, they are here and used.

I know how you feel! The first vehicle I ever bought, I bought new after graduating college in '98. It was a '99 Ford F150 regular cab, short bed, flairside, 4x4, 5.4L, etc. I LOVED IT! It was an awesome truck, treated well. I put 136,000 miles on it, but was in near-perfect shape, and I had it until March, 2007. We had 2 kids by then, and we needed a crew cab. I sold it to a gentleman in Illinois, and we met in St. Louis to do the deal. Everything went smoothly, and I was sad to see my old girl leave.

A few days later on my way home from work, I got a call from the fellow that bought it from me. On his way home the day he bought it from me, he had a tire blow out on the trailer he was hauling the truck home on. It spun the truck he was driving and the trailer around in a 360, he ended up in the median, and my truck broke the tie downs and rolled off the trailer, totaling it. I was sick to my stomach. :(

BTW, nice looking new ride!

I have problems letting go of them. So I just keep them like a truck hoarder lol

Nice looking new rig Dusty, but it sure looks like you took good care of the old Chevy too!

We usually keep our trucks cars ten years or more with 200,000 miles on them, saved a lot in car payments over the years.

I have a '91 F-150, that has over 500,000 miles on it, and my F-250 has over 300,000 miles on it. Only maintenance is routine, and one "tune up" on the F-150, that was ~$100, since I was too busy (and lazy) at the time to do it myself.

I never really get attached to any of my cars/trucks. I would rather get rid of them in 2/3 years and move on. Out of warranty...out of my driveway. Maybe if I had a Sunday driver that I built and toiled on, but not a daily driver.

We have only bought one car new. That was a 2005 Prius. Back then there were no used ones on the market. I have bought two cars that were one year old, and am shopping for another one now. Buying from the leased or rental car fleets works best for me. My truck is a 98 Tacoma. I bought in 2008 with 75K. Or as Toyota drivers say, 'just broke in.' It only has 117K now, so I plan to drive it at least for another 100K. But from under my shed, to work and back under my shed is only 28 miles. It will take several years at that rate.

Its strange, but I also feel some kind of strange attachment to my vehicles. Usually something happens to make them feel like they are mine. Usually a long weekend wrenching on it, swearing at it, spending $500 on parts, when its about 95 degrees out, then it feels like mine.

My trucks, not so much. They come and go. The 2 Harleys and a 2007 Mustang GT, now they're different stories. :cloud9:
