BL4690 Bent cylinders

I thought Leon was pretty clear, let me cut, paste and highlight for those that did not see who he was referring too. :confused2:

Mag and kubotaboy

If you would be so kind as to provide me with the dimensions of the cylinder
including

1. cylinder barrel diameter
2. rod diameter
3. rod eye inside diameter
4. rod eye weldment width
5. cylinder rod stroke

Not sure who are asking for this information, but it is posted right after my post so perhaps me?

I don't have a backhoe and have no information to send you. Please make a donation to the local food bank for my response. thx.

Ok, if I bend the cylinder and it is not covered by warranty, why wouldn't just get one that is stronger?

If you bend a cyl, then you should definitely look into replacing it with
a better one, but don't expect to find one at Kubota. I would not pay
$400 for a Kubota cyl anyway.

Even if you pay someone else to do the modification, you can buy a
cyl from SurplusCenter.com, like Item# 9-5109, and pay less than $200,
shipped. I would try to find one with a 1.25" rod, and the same base
cross-tube ID. There are lots to choose from that are close to the size
in the 4690. Welding on a new rod-end cross tube to shorten the max
extended length is fairly easy to do. You don't even have to take the cyl
apart.

If you own a 4690 and have not bent your dipper cyl rod yet, put some
kind of stop block on the boom now, or do not use the bkt curl function
against a substantial load at maximum crowd. As WDCHYD pointed out,
curling the bkt adds substantial force to the stationary dipper.

Well it has been some time since I last posted, will blame it on age and medical problem. I still have the BL4690B and digging as far away as I can with no problem. Decided to dig out a 14" stump the other day, and had a brain freeze.
Crowded in close, curled the bucket, and bent #5 when I hit a nice root.

Came back to the good old forum and found many new entries had been posted. Learned a few things about hydraulic cylinders, did some digging on the WEB. Did some measuring on my cylinders ( better late than never ).

The ORANGE cylinder is 27.75" long and mainly 2 5/8 in diameter except where the 1" pin hole mounts to the boom reduced to 2.5 inches there. The Cross Tube Rod End 2.5" with a 1" pin hole, and extends 3" beyond the cylinder. So the retracted length would be 30.75" while extended length to dipper arm stop was around 50 inches. Seems to be about a 20" stroke and the Rod Diameter 1.125" and seems to bend pretty easy.

So looking for Welded Cylinders 2.0" Bore x 20" Stroke PSI 3,000 Rod 1-1/4".
Surpluscenter item # 9-7710-20 fits the bill best due to the Base End Crosstube width of 2 5/8" same as thr Orange Cylinder.
Hercules HMW-2020, DALTON Part #: DBH-2020-WT, Grainger Item # 6FDE6, and international hydraulics sku: IMW-2020 does well but the blind end tubes are all 2.75" wide. Would have to take off 1/8" from either side to fit the boom 2.55" mount.

Any suggestion the 9-7710-20 with shipping Total $178, while the IMW-2020 Grand Total $138, not bending #6 PRICELESS.
