Black Bears

I have two creeks on the property that grow skunk cabbage. In the spring when it blooms, will get a couple of black bears in it just munching it down. My dogs, seam to mostly ignore them.

The next town over next weekend has their 54th Bear Festival. Bear Stew served at 1:00 pm Saturday the 13th 2013 McCleary Bear Festival

wow... and where I am from it is hard to go outside in the evening and NOT see a black bear. Its a daily occurrence for us.

I put up a 4' page wire fence around 10acres around immediate cottage area in hopes to keep them out (stop the OMG moment early evening or morning when dog first pounces out the door onto the ground for his morning/evening constitution). Totally useless effort on my part. Going to try a couple energized wires to see if that helps.

Timster that looks like the size of the bear which was near our house last year. It destroyed 3 bee hives, and then disappeared during hunting season. Now with the gas drilling going on around our house I am not sure I will see it again.

Saw our first black bear a few weeks ago. We were coming up the path in our woods, and there he was. He walked 20 yards in front of us and just kept going. Beautiful to see.
