Picked up a LexMark printer for the computer in the shop. A whoppin' $25! No need for a good (expensive) one, as it'll get ruined (dirt and dust) long before it's time. Other'n that, no shopping 'till AFTER Christmas. All my shopping is done (or done by my wife!!!)

I beat the rush and went to Fry's Wednesday. They advertised a one day special of $99 for a 500GB external USB drive:

Sure enough, I got the next to last unit. (Fry's is famous for advertising stuff when they might have only one per store.)

I had my daughter call this morning to see if they had any more of the Black Friday Compaq laptops for $299. Of course they had sold out early.

There was also a $79 external Buffalo HD advertised with specs the same as the Maxtor I got Wednesday, but I didn't bother to have her ask about that since reviews for it weren't as good. Still that's a great price, if price is more important than speed.

They don't know the reason even if you tell them the reason.

I discovered a new model camera was already introduced (Panasonic TZ1) a couple of days after I bought a similar but now-superceded Pansonic so I took it back and bought the TZ1 (at 2x the price). The camera I returned was flawless. I packed it carefully so it was indistinguishable from new, because I wanted the next owner to enjoy the new-camera feel. I hadn't broken the batteries out of the cellophane since I already had AA's on hand and had used mine. I even reset the camera's frame counter to zero.

First thing the kid on the return desk did was tear open the sealed battery bag. He said they never use 'house' batteries to test returns. I asked him to reset the frame counter after he took some test shots, he refused. Then he jammed everything back in the box rumpled and folded. Made me sick to watch. The next buyer of that camera might as well have bought it in a pawn shop.

Another time I bought a new scanner at Fry's and someone's photos of a Russian wedding were in it. I tried to give them the photos to hold in their lost and found but they refused to take them.

I went to Office Max and bought two 2 Gig SD memory cards for the camera Im getting from santa...

Mrs Santa is getting me a refurbished Macintosh/apple Ibook (I had to help her out and order it for me today though)... She gets a piece of David Yurman jewelry in return

Jimmy, all kidding aside, my idea of Christmas, is certainly not going out shopping on Black Friday ! Shared a good cigar and a couple of beers with one of my buddies ! Oh, BTW I only shop for Kathleen, makes it real simple !

BTW I also wrap for Kathleen, she has been called the modern day Santa Claus , she buys for most anybody that lives in New England ! Did I ever tell you how good I am at wrapping !
