Hi, I have a BX 2200 and I plow snow and grade a half mile lane with a 6 foot blade instead of the recommended 5 foot. Am i damaging my tractor? I really like the extra foot. Brad

Is the blade you are using a front or rear mount blade?
I have a 6'6" front blade and a 6' rear blade on my B2910. <font color="orange"> Kubota </font> recommends a 5' front and rear. Since I do not overload these blades doing dirt projects they work great for snow plowing.

You shouldn't do any damage to the tractor pushing snow.
The biggest problem may be with the larger blade sliding the tractor around when the blade is angled in wet (heavy) or deeper snow.

My B 2710 had a 6' blade on front, but was taking too long to
clear my drive. So I widened it out to 8'. Only once in the
2 years since has the snow been too deep to get started. But just lifting the blade a bit got things going. So my vote is don't worry about the blade being too much.

I doubt that you could be damaging your tractor in any way with the 6 foot rear blade. The worst I would expect would be that you would run out of traction if you got into that heavy, wet snow...
If the blade is too big for your tractor the tractor will let you know by not being able to pull it.
As an example, I have a 6 foot landscape rake, which I can use either on the back of my B2910 or my BX2200. The B2910 can drags stuff up hill with that rake on the back...while the BX can't...looses traction...
So at times like that, I just take it that the tractor is telling me to move the rake to the larger tractor. The tractor never complains or anything, but by spinning its wheels it conveys the message while still trying to do the best it can... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The only thing I would watch out for with a larger blade is the “check chains” on the lower link lift arms of the 3pt hitch. On my tractor the check chains, Kubota’s term, are a turn buckle affair and the leverage of a long blade can put a great deal of stress on that point. I have broken two of them when using a blade extended to the side to clean out ditches. I would think with snow you would be fine though.
