I have a b7610 with a rck60-24b mmm.As stated by another member I ordered from my kubota dealer,part number 70000-25011 blade set,(high lift).As member stated- WHAT A DIFFERENCE -same length,perfect fit.Cutting for me,less than full pto rpm,much better cut,saves me fuel(lower rpm).Got another set for spare,$12.00 per blade x3.

What is the PTO speed for a BX23 with the 60" MMM?

2500 pto rpm. In the case of no tach. Just under wide open will be about 2500 pto rpm,High gear position on pto lever,at least it is on my tractor. With these blades I get a better cut at 2100 engine rpm, than I did at 2600 engine rpm,(stated engine rpm for full pto rpm)with stock blades.

Huh. You'd think they'd throw a cheap tach on these tractors for that kind of stuff then. Well, I'm off to tiny tach!! Hope the diesel one works better than the regular one does. (tried it on an older MTD and it wouldn't work half the time)

Thanks for the info!!

Newbie question, sorry, may be stupid.
I got a brand new BX2350 with the 60" MMM last week.
I have not tried to cut grass with it yet but I felt the blades as I was inspecting it and they felt very dull. I remember handling sharpened blades in the past...they are at least dull kitchen knife sharp. These seemed slightly rounded at the end. The dealer told me not to worry about it, that they don't come very sharp from the factory, that it spins very fast compared to older lawn mowers.
Obviously they are either going to cut well or not, but, should they be sharper seeming? I can't believe they come that way from the factory. Was the dealer screwing me by putting old blades on the tractor or something?
Thanks in advance.

When I got the MMM for my BX23, it was the same thing. I'm not sure why they come that dull. It's not like its a bush hog. :p I yanked mine and ran an edge onto them with the bench grinder. The other thing is they crank those **** bolts in. I used a 3 ft+ breaker bar to break them loose the first time. Plus I got to get some grease on the bolts before they got any moisture in them. Makes taking them out later much easier.

If you want to, try it without sharpening them first, and see. If it doesn't seem to be doing a good job, yank em off and throw an edge on them. I'm switching over to the gator blades this season anyways. I didn't like the way the standard blades cut.

So far I'm most impressed with the gatorblades. I mow at 3" and when I keep grass caughtup which is mowing atleast once a week around here, theres no need for a bagger or sweeper etc as the clippings are chopped up and disbursed quite well. I do build a compost pile each season so every 2 or 3rd mowing I'll side discharge into windrows and collect the clippings up. The gaterblades do well with the cyclone rake also.
I'm on my 2nd season with the gatorblades and I haven't had to sharpen them yet.....
Oregon which makes the gatorblades doesn't make a set that are direct replacement for the BX's 60" MMM but they do for the Kubota ZTR 60" mower. Unfortunately the center hole is too large for the BX mower. I did a post awhile back that listed hole sizes and part #'s but don't recall them off hand now.
Thats said, there is a fix, an adaptor if you will, that decreases the center hole down to the size needed to fit the BX spindle. The adapter is a simple Cat 1 to Cat 2 bushing adapter available at any tractor supply house. You only need one and you cut off two pieces that are just a hair thinner than the thickness of the blades. Works great and lasts along time :D
In any case, a mulching setup is good and the std blades are good too but i've found that in my case, the gatorblades work best for me.

Scrounger and others,

I have the 54"MMM and purchased the mulching kit and blades with it.

If all I were ever doing was mowing nice lawn, PROBABLY the mulching kit would work fine. However, sometimes, I want to mow and discharge. The kit is NOT an easy on/off deal, though if you had the deck off, it is not difficult.

I don't know if the MMM has the kit holes in it or if you have to drill them, since mine was dealer installed. There are probably 10 5/16" bolts that hold on the shielding.

I've left my kit off, gone with the normal blades, and fabricated a metal cover plate that bolts over the discharge opening. It works acceptable for me.

You can do as you wish, but I'd recommend making a closure plate, buying some mulching blades, and see if that does the trick for you. It's a lot easier to take off two bolts that you can reach from the discharge area than those bolts all over the deck with the kit.

I have a B7800 with the 60" Kubota mid-mount mower and have found the Gator blades to be terrific. I bought them through Agri Supply. I like them so much that I don't use them in my three set rotation as I had planned. Instead of taking off dull blades and replacing them with a set I have already sharpened I take the time to sharpen the Gator blades right then,

Thanks for the details but I dont have anything that will cut those bushings precisely enough for it to work for me. I think the Kubota high lift blades are the only choice for me at this point.
