sounds like you have the regular twin stick 8spd, and an early one since it is a seperate sump.

so far everything points to that.

All this is exactly why, I am upset over the switch er rooo, they did on me. Everything is old style. Now this does not exactly mean, its bad, just not newer style. Since you handle mostly older tractors than this, you know what I mean. but that is the models you like to collect or work on, or have worked on. So many are restoreding the old tractors, they can't be all bad.

We never heard from the loan company. I guess it don't matter to them either. I am gettting rather tired of messeing with it all. Might cost less to fix what I got, since its already in my yard. This one has the 233 engine, they upgraded mid year 1968 to the 256 engine and inproved stearing, and etc etc etc.

actually.. the twin stick / seperate sump deal was pretty standard right up till the later models.. and it is a good bullet proof trans.

Ok thanks sound guy, because I have no idea, whats going to happen in the next couple days. I still may wind up with this tractor. Just can't tell yet. So I definatley want it working as when it was delivered.
Please send and post that pic when you can, and look at the pics I posted to see it those are the locations your talking about.

Good news, we settled on $1,000 back on the tractor. I do feel much better now, but darn was it all a hassle. So I got the ford 5000 for $4,000. Needs a lot of work, but this is a good start.

One thing though. The book calls for SAE 30, that was in 1966. Can I use the new multi grade 15w40 diesel grade motor oil thats now available or should I hunt for SAE 30. And they do not make a non detergent oil that I know of. though it didn't say that.

I finally figured out the hydraulic problems I have been having all this time. The owner manual helped. The 3 point lift, control has to be all the way up for the assilury hydrolic remote to work the loader. i didn't know that. The book also says I could make them both live all the time by putting it in another port. But maybe I should live it like it is.

15w40 for sure.. that's what I run in my 5000.

Of course i didn't know any difference, thats where they put it. But the owners manual says there is the other option too. so both run at the same time. I might change it. Then, I don't have to always remember to pull out or push in that knob when switching back and forth

Help again.

Another line broke. I replaced all the bad looking ones this time. Again, I changed the fluid because it still was cloudy looking to me. Used it for a hour or so. And not it has stopped working. Checked the level of the fluid, it is fine. But nothing works again. It worded for over a hour, so the lines must have fluid in all of them.

Any Idea, what I should try now? Thanks all for you help in the past.

New problem

Hello, my tractor, looked like it had water in the trany. So I drained it, sure enough. Well its old 1966, my first time changeing it.
It has rained a lot lately, so before i added the new fluid, I checked to be sure it had drained completely, and about 2 quarts of water came out. HELP.

The rain must be getting in somehow. So I ran the water hose all over the tranny houseing for a hour, and the shift levers, filler plug. And nothing came out.

Help. Any idea, how the water is getting into the transmission? PS, the covers are off the engine being painted.
