Blew out my knee

Wow... Between farm life, 2 jobs and all.. I guess i'm not as young as I used to be. I managed to blow out my left knee at work tuesday night. Was hoping for just somethingt hat would 'go away' after an aspirin and hot shower.. but here it is 2 days later, and I gave in and went to the doctor ( work wanted me to anyway.. ).

Now I know what that phrase ' you aren't a kid anymore' means. Stuff ain't as flexible.. and you don't heal in a few days... ho hum...

Sorry to hear that. Going under the knife to fix it up? I did that 5 years ago, and knew when I jumped off the truck bed while in mid air that I was going to be sorry for that. Has been good since the surgeon cleaned it out. Good luck. Never a convenient time to be laid up, least of all now.

Just had mine done! After 2 1/2 weeks it's doing great. I limped on mine for 4 mos to get ahead at work. Should a had it done sooner. Don't wait!

All us "old codgers" gotta take it easy on those joints! From your picture, you look to be a fairly stout young man. I know the trials and tribulations that go along with that. Knees, ankles, and feet take a pounding. (I hit the scales at around 265 myself)

Get a couple opinions from the sawbones, then do what seems best. Get it over with. The longer you wait, the longer the healing time.

Sorry to hear about the injury, Chris. It ain't all fun gettin' old. I've had "knee-moan-ia" a couple of times. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Sure hope it's something minor and is able to be fixed soon.

Had that little problem about four years ago. The doctor called it a classic case of " Hockey Knee ". I don't play hockey and have no idea how it happened. Day surgery and all was well. Stiff for a few days. Had two flights of stairs to climb to get to bed. After about two weeks felt very good.

Hope yours comes around as well as mine did.

That's a bummer, I ruptured two discs in my lower back a couple of years ago while chain sawing down a large laurel oak tree, talk about severe pain... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I can empathize with anyone with ankle, knee, neck, back etc. problems, NOT FUN.

Hope it wasn't the "tractor clutch" knee.. the docter may ban you from manuel tractors.. and you will be forced to enjoy a hydro! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It's hard to rest anything when you have daily farm chores that have to be done.. any farm boys close by you could pay to do some chores while your healing?

I'd try alternating heat then ice on that knee.. at least in the evenings.. it'll help speed up the healing process. Yep.. we're not Spring Chickens anymore! Happy Holidays and I hope you heal fast!
