Blinking charging light

I just got the tractor and trying to find out more about it. I bought a parts book but it has little information. The tractor starts and runs normal for about 15 minutes. Then the charging light starts blinking. Voltage is around 14 volts at first then drops down to 12.4 yo 12.7 causing the light to blink. The voltage regulator looks like a solid state type. Any information regarding this tractor or where to find a replacement would help.

That is most likely a loose wire at the connectors. The wire housings (connectors) tend to become brittle and break over the years and the wires themselves become loose. I'd make sure they are in good shape before replacing the regulator as you won't gain anything if it is in the connectors.

Ok thanks for the quick reponse. The tractor is at the farm 100 miles away. I will check the connectors this weekend and may bring it back with me

Just got back from the farm. Checked the connectors and didnt see anything on the plug to the voltage regulator. Did see two of the plugs not being used. Did take a picture. I did find out that if I turn the headlights on the blinking idiot light stops. When it blinks battery voltage is 14.6 to 14.4. With the headlights on voltage drops to 13.6 and no light. Does the regulator give a overcharge warning

Also have another electrical question. Why does my oil pressure light only work when the engine is hot. It doesn't come with the alternator light when you first turn the key to the on position. After the engine is warm it works. I took the sending unit out and washed it with diesel fuel didn't help

You should plumb in a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Mine goes up to 100 pounds. It could be the light is telling you that your oil pressure is low.

Update replaced the voltage regulator and the blinking idiot light has stopped blinking.
