I just came in from plowing about 8" and the storm just started. The wind is blowing about 40 mph and white out conditions. It is suspose to snow untill tomorrow afternoon with 20-30" totals. I was in my snowmobile suit with my helmet on. The neighbors were looking at me out the window like I was crazy. I was just afraid that if we realy got 20" I wouldn't be able to plow it.

Snow tapering off here in eastern Kansas. 40 mph wind ...10 degreeF...Has been white out part of the day.....Interstate 70 is now closed for 250 miles between Kansas City and St Louis. I'm going to wait till the wind dies down...maybe by Thursday to go out and deal with it...

ok i awoke to about 6" of fresh snow this morning, a pile of schools closed including my daughter's which never seems to close for any reason. I got the car hung up at the end of the driveway and had to back up and get a run for it to get on to the highway to go to work. the roads weren't too bad on the way to work and lucky for me the neighbor had most of the driveway plowed (shared drive) with his work truck by the time i got back home so i only had to clean up near the garage and a little he couldn't catch with the truck. and now there calling for freezing rain switching over to snow. tomorrow morning could be interesting.

I have got about 4 inches of sleet over 1/2 inch of ice. I just went on a fire call that was a challenge. The sleet is changing over to mostly snow now and the wind has picked up. It seems it is taking some horsepower to get thru this stuff. Getting the fire truck down some of these country roads was fun trying to get under all the low hanging tree limbs that are weighted down with ice. I signed up for ambulance call this week and I am regretting that. I am hoping it will be quiet the rest of the evening.

Easily have 14-15" on the ground right now and still snowing. Forecast to have another 2-4 inches before the snow ends. Then the winds are supposed to start up in earnest. Tonight 26 mph with gusts up to 37 mph. Tomorrow 22-25 mph.

We got lucky last night. Only had real fine sleet that covered the sidewalk but was so fine it was hard to see on the old snow or the bare spots.

Going to get cold. Tonight 13ーF. Tomorrow 16ーF with -8ーF. Thursday 10ーF.

Right now I can't really see myself saying I would long for some of this temperature when it gets really hot this summer.

The jet steam was kind to us this storm. Last night the temps stayed above 50 and was 55 at 6:30 this evening but in three hours it dropped 20 degrees and is now 28 and the rain is gone north east. North of the river in IL it is very different.

I got home about 7 so while the engines and batteries were still above 50 I started the motorhome generator and 454, the F700, backhoe, pick-up and the back up generator long enough for all tail pipes to become dry. The 265 MF is cover with a tarp but close enough I could put the charger on is so I topped off the battery it and it has the block heater. My plan is only to be on a tractor unless it is a life or death matter.

With temperatures in the lower teens and forecast to be down in single digits tonight, our area is joining many others with power outages. One of our daughter's heat was not working this morning because of lack of natural gas pressure. And now their electricity is off. The newspapers say the electic grid is so stressed that they're doing "rolling blackouts", most only lasting 15 minutes, but our daughter says she has a friend who has been without power for 3 hours. So far, it hasn't hit our house, but I guess we can expect it any time.

When Line pressure drops there are times when it comes back up liquid slugs may develop and get into the home owners appliances.:(

Not common but has happened. Sorta depends on the composition of the natural gas.:)
