Blizzard on the way

Egon, I believe it was around New Years 1980-81 when we had quite an ice storm in Dallas. At that time we heated and cooked with natural gas and even had a gas starter in the fireplace. When I noticed the temperature dropping in the house, even though the blower was moving air, I found the furnace was lit, but just a tiny flame. I checked and found the same thing at the cookstove, then called the gas company. The person I spoke to said maybe the regulator at the meter was frozen, to pour warm water on it. I did but that didn't help. However, before I could call again, a gas company employee showed up and said the pressure was down in the whole neighborhood and they were increasing it. Right away, ours came back to normal.

It is blitzing in central Maine right now. Winds are forecast to pick up through out the day.

I had about 4'' of snow in my drive this morning. Expecting a total of 10" to 16".

The skiing will be good.:D

I have 5" of Ice plus about 6-8" of snow. What a ^#@%$ mess. I would rather have 45" of snow than 1" of Ice.

Oh yea, its blowing 35 gusting 50. And to top all that off its 17deg with that going to be the high for the next 7 days and temps below 0 every night.

DP, I feel for you. There just isn't anything you can do with ice. nYou just have to wait for it to melt. With the forcast being as cold as they are calling for it will take a while for it to go away. Be safe.

Nothing is worse than freeze rain I decided after the 2009 ice storm. It is all bad but no power makes it much worse.

Hope everyone gets a warm up this weekend.

We're just seeing the last of the snow (for today) over the horizon.. Close to a foot and a half from what I can see, time to feed the horses and warm up the tractor shortly.

I thought ours was all done early last night. But this morning there was another 4 or 5 inches from the last time I plowed late yesterday afternoon. Still snowing a little now but its all light and fluffy. Going out now to plow again for the third time. We were about 15" behind the average for this time of year but I beleive we're ahead now.
