Block heater installation problems - BX2200

Coincidentally, I bought the block heater for my Kubota B7500 today, and it is the same part number. In addition to the thread sealant, my dealer recommended using silicone dielectric grease on the electrical connector. Interesting, the block drain plug hex size is the same as on a VW front wheel drive transaxle. I did a little searching and found my 3/8" drive 17mm hex bit I last used 10 years ago. Also found some Loctite PST 592 I used to install a marine hydraulic steering unit. The car and boat are long gone, but the tools still come in handy now and then. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

junkman.... If I find a petcock I will share the source.

cbh... A 3/8 drive may not be hefty enough to get the plug out. I had to put a pipe on a 1/2 inch drive breaking bar to get mine out. I believe Kubota cements the plug in the block with Loctite. If you use your 3/8 drive you may have to apply some heat.

Added the block heater today was very easy to do as long as you have a 24 inch pipe on the wrench to move the plug! JWE sent me a 17 mm wrench to take the plug out. I am done with it, anyone need it to take the plug out? If so, PM me and I will send it to you as long as you pass it onto another TBN person when you are done. I used a 36 mm socket to tighten the heater after I hand tighten it. I did not empty the radiator, just unscrewed the plug and put the heater in real fast. Lost less then a pint of fluid doing it this way. Now I am ready for cold weather. Thanks for all the people who have posted on how to do it, was very helpful. And a special thanks to JWE for sending me the 17 mm wrench.

Hi,

I'm about to begin installing a new block heater in my BX2200... can I get the 17mm stub to remove the plug?

I'll send it on th the next person when I'm done!

What do you guys know about the lower radiator heater for the BX 1860? Dealer says it is the only one available for my tractor. Easy install? Does it work? Thanks for any input.

Ask the dealer for a freeze plug heater. I can't believe your 1860 doesn't have a plug that can't be pushed out and have a heater put in.

In my 1830, the frost plug was in the front of the head. It was a 30mm diameter and cost me about $35.00. They are more effecient than the radiator hose type. There is nothing wrong with the hose type, I just hear that the plug type are better.

I have suspected this for some time. My dealer installed a block heater in my 1860 upon delivery. It doesn't heat up the thing hardly at all. I've traced it down and for all the world, it appears to be a simple magnetic type, although I didn't try to remove it.

Disappointed. Please clarify for the benefit of the rest of us. No freeze plug heater for the small block 'Bota?

Lower radiator, here I come!!

Take this PDF to Messicks and see if this helps them to look up the #. There are so many add ons it is difficult to keep up with and find them when looking.
Halfway down the page is the block heater option for the BX1860. Hope this helps. I order from Messicks sometimes and not all #s show up in their parts search. Unless its a misprint this should be the number for the block heater.
