PineRidge- I looked at the bottle and you know it is called "Fleetrite", but it is made by Navistar. If that helps.

Sorry about the bad english/typing . My dogs always seem to bother me when on it!

I've a block heater in my 240D that's installed in one of the freeze plugs. Had one in my old 220D that I bought from JC Whitney and installed it in the middle of a radiator hose. Both worked fine and needed only to be turned on about thirty minutes to an hour before you want to start the engine. None of these had a thermostat. Your radiator and cooling system thermostat will work pretty good at controlling things there, but you'd be wasting electricity and element life to go this far.

As far as antifreeze. Almost any antifreeze, 50/50 with water (from tap) will do. Only if I was on town water with a bunch of chlorine in it would I buy distilled water. My favorite antifreeze is what you can buy from Mercedes dealers. It's the only colorless antifreeze, which is what ethylene glycol alone is, I've ever seen. It'll cost more, but I like that nice clear look to it.

If you want stuff more environmental, buy the Sierra stuff that's propylene glycol. Think they both need an expensive distillation unit to recycle, but propylene glycol isn't poisonous to humans and animals like ethylene glycol is.

There are some long life ethylene glycols. This is what my VW has in it. Won't know whether they make a long time propylene glycol.

Don't know what Fleetgard is.

From what I have read, The propylene glycol (PG) does not work as well as the ethylene glycol (EG). It doesn’t dissipate heat as well.

Henro, et. al. --

"...used on the BX2200 series. And it was my understanding that the same engine is used on the BX2230."

Nope, the '2230 uses the new D902 engine. (I looked at about three new '2230s yesterday while at the dealer to pick up my 50 hour service supplies and look over my new tiller and rotary cutter /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif .) The D902 has the same displacement and power as the "old" D905, but has a smaller block. I didn't think to look for a block heater plug so I really don't know, but with the smaller block it seems credible that the '2230 might not have room for the block heater.

Maybe someone with a D902 will jump in and let us know for sure.

Or maybe it does. From the NEW kubota Web site, click under Support, then Parts, then enter BX2230 and you will find a part number for the block heater kit.

I was going to post the number here, but lost track of it somehow, and I'm NOT gonna wade back through that site again! ... 10% ... 11% ... 12% ...

Clicking on the following link hopefully will take one to the Kubota parts search page...

The Block heaters are certainly different part numbers between the BX2200D and the BX22230D

Jerry,

Seems to work for me...here it is just in case:

http://www.kubota.com/PartsCat/PartsCatDetail.asp

Lots of basic data there. I see the new BX2230 engine is likely the same as that of the RTV...hope I remember that designation right /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

PS - Click on new search, then pick the model options and then after you make the forth selection the data appears.

That's the same part number that my B2910 uses.
Must be something different in the BX2230 kit.

   / Block heater #33
Ron, apparently it is the same block heater for both the B2910 engine and the D-905-E BX2200 engine.

Another interesting thing that shows up on the Kubots site, is that apparently the BX23LB-B uses the D905-E-BX-OPC engine, as does the BX23LB-T [wonder what is different between the -B and -T ???]

So the BX2230 uses the new D902-E-BX, while the BX23 uses the D905-E-BX-OPC engine. The BX2200 uses the D905-E-BX engine...must be the same engine, or very close.

Wonder what the difference is between the BX23LB-T and BX23LB-B??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Also wonder why the new D902 engine was not put into the BX23 ???

Very curious! Maybe they were using up a backlog of 905 engines. I also think they may have made changes to the 22 before they made changes to the 2200. It's still a bit strange to have two different 22 Hp engines in this series. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

That one threw me too. All I could figure was the tires:

Yeah, the D902 is 45 pounds /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif lighter than the D905 -- Who ever heard of wanting to make your tractor LIGHTER???

The BX 2200 uses a 905 Engine the BX 2230 uses a newer design 902 Engine. In about six months the BX 23 will also use the 902 Engine. It is access to where the heater plug used to go that is the issue. I actually posted a question to the Kubota web site and the technical product manager called me to relate this information to me.

   / Block heater #37
Rimmer, another interesting fact is that if you look at the Kubota Engine site you can get HP and torque curves for both engines 902 and 905. From what I can see I would prefer to have the 905 rather than the 902, hence my question to Kubota. To me it looks like the 902 turns slower, produces less HP and torque at the same RPM's as the 905.
To get the 902 info you have to go to the home page of this site.
