bluetooth deadman ignition switch

/ bluetooth deadman ignition switch #11
Okay why is this harder than it looks. I want it to be optional. So that I can turn on the system only when I'm doing specific things on the tractor. I definitely do not want it tied to the seat in anyway. I have googled and googled and googled and can not find anything that seems reasonable. I was thinking I could do it with a long wire but bluetooth would be so much better and not have a wire trailing me around. Has anyone done something, seen something, built something?

Therein lies the rub... if a safety switch can be enabled or disabled at will, then it will most likely be forgotten when it is most needed. If you have to remember to enable the deadman switch, then you can remember to turn off the tractor before getting off to work around an implement. It doesn't get any easier than that.

one simple idea is a some type of pull out key, that when the key or switch is pulled the tractor shuts down, now with a set of rings/hooks one could set up the switch so you could pull it by a string and by running the string thought a ring or a smooth hooks, one could pull it from any angle on the tractor,

my thought is more like a trailer break away switch but instead of making the circuit break the circuit,

Do you want a deadman switch (hold down to keep the tractor on), or just remote shutoff switch? If just a remote shutoff switch, take a look at something like: 4 Channel RF Wireless Remote Control 433MHz Latch New | eBay I have 2 of them in our cars to lock/unlock both cars with 1 remote. It could
also act as a deadman, but it would be a pain to use.

Thanks for all the replies. I have followed all the links and looked at more stuff from the suggestions. Seems as though the link above would work the best. It has an option that could mean that you would have to hold the button down for the function set up. Which of course would work perfectly for a true dead man's switch which is what I want. Just worried a little about the month for shipping. I am just not going to do all the ideas or suggestions that rely on long strings and such. But thanks anyway. other equipment that I am thinking of attaching it to the tractor hydraulics might be an olive press and a grinder. So thanks again for everyone's help.

use a latching system that auto resets at power cycle. an EM switch could be used here. IE.. once you start her up, you have to manually re-enable a DMS.. later when you shut her off, the DMS auto unlatches, and then when you start up again if you want to re-enable, you have to do so. it would be better than a manual on / off switch that can be disabled and left that way untill you remember it.

many shop and industrial power tools have this setup.. that way if power goes out while working, all tools shutt off and non auto restart when power comes back on, as all the EM cutouts reset and unlatch.
