Board Foot...

/ Board Foot... #21
Was it in concrete? Never heard of treated rotting that soon!

"Treated" is like "truck". The word means something different to every person that uses it. Here in north Texas we have lots and lots of "treated" boards that rot out in less than ten years. I have a deck I put in almost twenty years ago. The surface boards are redwood and the framing was "treated" two bys. It's doing fine, I need to replace some of the surface boards. But the reason the "treated" is holding up so well is none of it touches ground. It's suspended off the ground on pipe posts on three foot centers both ways, sixteen by sixteen deck.
