I'm looking at an 85 643 with a 3 cyl desiel and 3260 hours. It needs all the fluids changed and the lights need fixed. The dealer is asking $4960! I figure if they do the service and get the lights fixed and clean bill of health on the machine would 4960 be a good deal? It purrs like a kitten idle/wot and everything seems tight when I drove it.. I'm selling my case 1830 gasser to buy it... Any ideas?

643 was a good machine. Less than $5000 for a low houred machine looks like a good deal.

Well I sold my 1979 1830 case and decided to go see if the 643 was still there and it was so at 38 degrees I decided to see if it would start setting outside.. Glow plugs for about 30 secs and cranked for about 15 hit the plugs again for 20 lit right up with no funny noises... So now I need to get mine delivered and see if they will work with me on the price some since it needs serviced!!!

When they were brand new that didn't start any easier than that. Tells me it has had good service and care. I would buy it even if dealer didn't want to through in a service.

I'm calling them today and telling them to throw in filters and service manual and I'll be there with $5000 cash and a trailer and see what they say..

Very nice job Shortbed...... what a difference.
Would be interested to hear how you cleaned, sanded, primed, before the paint job. Did you take apart or just mask off. What kind of paint?

I used engine bright gel on everything and pressure washed it with hot water then sanded with a da on the flat areas and scuffed areas hard to get too... Then used rustoleum oil based paint on everything... There was no real need for primer but the white took alot of coats to cover where the old decals were. Bobcat white is more of a bone white color and I used bright white semigloss. I just taped everything off kind of a pita. Decals were made by a buddy. All total I have less than $100 in it! Thanks for the comments..
