Nice job making that socket. Did you cut the hex with a torch? I've done that a few times. Glad you got it out.

Thanks for the compliment. I drilled along the perimeter of the hex using a 1/8" bit, then used a chisel to punch out the center and finished up by using an end mill in the milling machine. It worked well.

Thanks for the tip. I have it installed and it doesn't appear to be leaking. I'm guessing it is torqued to about 20 to 25 ft/lbs. Just a guess though. Sure hope I never have to do this again but if I do it should not be anywhere near as hard to get off.
