Bogus ads on TBN??

Did anyone see the three new ads in the tractor classifieds? 2 Kubotas and a John Deere at prices like 3k. If it were real there would be no reason to advertise, you could stand on a street corner with a card board sign and sell in an hour, all three. Geez!

Forgive my ignorance but, isn't that how hour meters work? They tick away whenever the engine is running?

Billy, there are at least two entirely different kinds of "hour meters". My B7100 had the "clock" type; i.e., it was running at the same rate as your wrist watch or clock any time the key was turned on; whether the engine was running or not, and engine RPM made no difference. Then my B2710 had the other kind, tied to the tachometer. It would register one hour in one hour if the engine was running at PTO speed. If you were running at, say half the PTO RPM, it would only register half an hour in an actual hour.

I never heard of the second type. Is it still called an hour meter or is there some other name for it -- proofmeter maybe? My manual refers to the proofmeter, which I presume is just another name for hourmeter, but now you went and got me to thinking. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
