Bolt on hooks install for Kioti bucket

Hey TinHack,

Thank you for the information. I see that looks like a possible good spot to mount them on the Kioti bucket. Glad it is working out for you.

Thanks for the repeat business!
So I thought that Ken's bolt-on hooks are "not recommended" for double walled buckets?!

So I bought the hooks from KennyD in 2014, but the Kioti bucket has a square tube along the front for added strength. Some LS buckets have this too. Which means I need 3 1/2 inch bolts instead of the 1 1/2 inch bolts provided. And I finally remembered I needed them WHILE I WAS AT THE STORE! (hey, are you laughing?) 😆

Here are all the parts for 1 hook, including the new longer bolts:

Being as it is mounting through a tube, there could be some concern over deformation when torqueing the bolts. But check that wall thickness in the drilled hole... two layers on top of the bucket, though only 1 layer on the bottom.

After drilling the holes all the way through the tube I used a bigger bit to remove burrs:

Then checking for correct fit (nothing tightened yet):

In the above pic you can see how the bucket wraps around the tube, below you can see that the wraparound is only about a half inch on the underside. I set my hooks back from the bucket edge to avoid any uneven surfaces for the washers.

Front of bucket is at top of photo, bolts go through just the tube itself, set back from the overlap:

Now I just need to find something to chain down!

Last, some gratuitous advertising 'cause I'm pleased with the results:

OP didn't follow TBN protocol by bashing the manufacturer for not providing the proper fasteners for his application. ;) I don't know anyone who doesn't love Ken's Bolt On Hooks.

I'm glad that somebody bumped this. I've been thinking about ordering a hook for my MTL grapple but the top is made from square tubing, so until seeing the OP's pictures I wasn't sure that it would work. 👍 Now I just have to decide if I want one in the center, or two offset.

Maybe not but on my DK, I filled the space between the double wall with a 3/4” pipe cut off. Longer bolts and shackle plate on the bottom. I have used them a fair amount, no sign of anything moving. I would typically prefer to weld hooks on but I think this is a better setup.
If I saw someone bend that setup, I would think their expectations are unrealistic

The shackle plate is a nice touch.

I have a JD 750 tractor and am looking for a decent used front end loader and landscape rake. I have the hydraulic system SCV for the loader but nothing else (brackets, bucket, etc).

Thank you!

Officially, that is correct, but some bucket designs can support them. The customer/user has to make that determination with all the info provided.

if you can get into/inside the double wall section, I can see the 3/4" pipe modification as a viable solution..
My Kioti RX-7320 has a square tube reinforcement integrally welded to the top of the bucket. If I was to add the hoods I would need to place the bolt-ons approx. 3.5" back from the front lip - as I'm trying to show on the attached images. Not sure how the chain would work having to go over that leading 3.5" inch bucket edge. May be just fine other than sliding back-and-forth over the front lip as well as keeping the bucket curled horizontal the the lifted object.

@panampefa , this just proves my point that every situation and bucket can be different, the user/customer has to be an informed one to make the best decision for his machine.

Many of the Kioti buckets have a double walled top, with the two "walls" or surfaces being on two different planes making it impossible to use bolted hooks, some are like yours, and some have the heavy solid tube like the OP in this thread. Just like Kubota, they have many different style buckets for some reason.

Here are customer pics, I just have them labeled as "Kioti DS" so not sure what model they where from.
