Bolt on hooks

/ Bolt on hooks #21
I put Ken's blemished bolt-on hooks on my XJ2025H. I couldn't tell what was blemished about them - he is apparently much more particular than I am :)

Anyway, put them at the edges, but due to the shape of the bucket, there wasn't a good way to bolt them on where it didn't look like I'd be making a lever against the fasteners. So I just had those welded on.... On my new one I had dealer weld on a couple standard grab hooks before delivery. I did both edges of bucket vs one in center. More often than not, if I'm slinging something to lift it, I'm attaching at a few points and 2 spots at the bucket edges keep the suspended load from twisting, swinging, whatever - just more stable. Dragging a tree or something, I just go across both hooks so the load is centered. For me and what I do, that just works out a lot better. I also much prefer grab hooks to a D-ring. Chains just seem easier to work with and I know they're plenty strong without worrying about fraying, sun damage, etc.

In my prior tractor and now my new tractor, as a courtesy the Massey dealer always welded 3 hooks onto my buckets and loads the rear tires, one hook in center and one on either side of the bucket about 6 inches in. I have lifted finish mowers (not sure what a 5' finish mower weighs) in the air with a chain across all 3 hooks. Makes sharpening the blades and changing gear oil on the mower much easier.
