We are getting no rain here in Tennessee. It looks other areas of the country are getting plenty. What's it like in your neck of the woods? If you are getting enough, send some this way.

I don't know what the usual pattern is in Tenn, but in 1988 I moved from New Jersey to California and the change in weather took some getting used to. Like much of the east coast, New Jersey gets some torrential downpours in the summer, usually accompanied by thunder and lightning.

I couldn't believe that in the California is doesn't rain during the summer. Not occasionally, not rarely, but practically never from May through October. Day after day of monotonous clear skys and sunshine. The fields turn brown, the grass all dies, and the woods will burn with the slightest encouragment.

In fact that seems to be the pattern for all of the pacific coast. I now live on an island off the northern coast of Washington state and the pattern is pretty much the same. We'll probably have one more shower before July 4th and then nothing until November.

What's our weather like? Well, to start with, I've already gotten more rain in the first 5 months of this year that I got in all of 2006 or 2005; 8.3" last month. I mowed the yard today even though I still had some puddles, but the forecast is for a 50% chance of rain tomorrow and tomorrow night, then 40% for a couple of days. It rained 18 of the 31 days in May at my house, although the newspaper said 21 days with no 2 consecutive days without rain. Lakes that were up to 17' low last year with a 2 year drought are now full.

Here in Western PA, I have only had one good rain in the last month. The lawn is totaly dry and the pasture is going to be soon if it doesn't rain soon. It has rained just a few miles in every direction, but it keeps missing me.

What lopezian said about California's rain is true except this year it is worse. Much worse. I normally use my brushhog to mow our acreage 3 times before it's all dry and grows no more. This year, it's all brown and I've only mowed once.

Dang TBN people have strange complaints: I'm whining about NOT having to mow more than once this year.

Our weather warnings for yesterday didn't come true: dry lightning was supposed to be in the forecast but didn't happen. A few years ago it DID happen and a few days later we had 35 different brush fires out of control in our county alone. That was also the only time in 30 years we've prepared to evacuate. We were glad the lightning didn't strike.

So whoever is shipping rain to TNhobbyfarmer please send some to me too.

TN is due to get some chance of rain right thru the middle of next week...which is better than none....

In Northern Wisconsin we received more rain this spring than all of last year.Good for the grass, bad for the beaver pond.Dam broke releasing 20 acres of 5 foot deep water. Water came up to the top of Highway 77.

I'll be driving across Tennessee next week, on my way to visit my honey in Arkansas. I'll be sure to bring some rain along with me (though I'm willing to bet it'll rain anyway because I'm traveling).

Spring was a little on the wet side here in central NJ; made my first cut of the field grass almost 2 weeks ago, but things are drying out to near "normal" now. Scattered thunder storms dropped about .25" here last night, more in some places, non in others.

Mother nature lately has made sure everything gets it's daily shower,and those shoers have heavy down pours which means York rake will be needed for the driveway...By the looks and feel of the ground mud season will continue to the first day of summer up here in the pucker brush....ooohhh the lawn and small gardens are loving this weather.

I'm about a 4 hour drive east of Knoxville, in Nortwest N.C.

Worst dry summer since I've been here (going on seven years). On the news the other day was how this has been one of the dryest springs/summers to on record. Grass is light brown (still light green in some spots though).

This morning about 2 am it started raining, and currently is still raining (8:15 am). Nice light, steady rain that shouldn't wash anything out, but actually soak into the ground. I hope it keeps coming.
