Yes, small world. Far as I know there's nothing 20 miles north of Cottonwood. I've spent a fair amount of time in that part of the Coconino National Forrest along the rim. Came across some squatter camps with really nice views though.

But I'm guessing you mean East-northeast in Sedona by your tag. My FIL does high-end cabinets and furniture for all the California millionaires that build their houses around Sedona.

Something so simple, yet so stupid.

Was checking the hydraulic fluid level in the rear reservoir with a home made dip-stick I made, and forgot to put the filler cap back on when I was thru. Naturally I laid the filler cap on the fender while I was checking the h-oil level. So it vibrated off the tractor somewhere only God would know.

Now I have to have the dealer "order me one", and then drive 50 miles round trip to pick up a $.39 pc of plastic that I will no doubt pay $10 for. Hopefully I can get him to mail it to me. He's the only dealer within 100 miles.

I hate it when I do something like that. Definitely have him mail it. Until then I would make myself a homemade bung.

My backblade and I aren't on speaking terms. Being a new operator at the time I had the blade all the way down and backed up into an embankment and broke the top link. The tractor was already facing up hill and with a 15 degree tilt to the right. I had to get off and disconnect the backblade on that hill or drag it. A year later I tried starting ditch with it by tilting it and angling it at the same time. I hit a rock and tore the frame. Once I got the frame replaced it has been relegated to snow duty.

Yup! Didn't use to be on them but then, it happened when a guy had the bright idea to use his mower to trim his hedge. Makes drilling a hole in the wrong place child's play in the bonehead department, eh.

My sister-in-law, 8-mo pregnant, was mowing wet lawn with a self-propelled mower. When the grass chute got clogged, leaving it running, she knelt down next to the chute, pulled up the black plastic guard, and started to pull the wet chunks out. About the 2nd handful, she got bit by the blade. Miraculously, it only blackened one finger nail. No cuts, no blood. Talk about a bruised ego. She couldn't believe her own stupidity, but blamed it on pregnancy brain. Still...

One of my nephews was about 14-15 when he was mowin the lawn. He was pulling the mower back towards himself, slipped on wet grass, and his foot went under the deck. It took the top of his tennis shoe right off, from the toe to about 3" back from the toe, but somehow missed his actual toes! That was a life lesson for him about how quickly things can go wrong.

Think about how many times many of us have mowed the lawn and pushed, then pulled the mower back and forth? It can happen so fast.
