Bonehead Award of the year

Very interesting thread. I thought about contributing some of my mistakes, but then decided:

(1) I ain't gonna tell on myself, and
(2) TBN might not have enough capacity for me to list all of them.

I was working my way through JC installing wood soffit and fascia on new tract homes...having to follow wood butcher framers was not always easy and often required a lot of extra work that was not always easy to get paid to take care of...
One time I was at the top of my gable scaffold and got so disgusted at the rough framing I threw my hammer...(20 oz curved claw) somehow it hit on the curved claw bounced off the ground and went through a side window of my van...and out the window on the other side of the van...shattering both...!

Now that's a good hammer, or a good arm, or both

Not my BHM, but my dads. When I was a little kid, he had a 39 Plymouth. For some reason he had to replace the differential. He bolted it in and when he went to drive it, he had 3 reverse and one forward. Apparently back then the pinion was mounted on the centerline of the ring gear and the bolt pattern was symmetrical.

Angry about his BHM, he jerked it out and turned it over. He took a test drive with 3 forward and about 5 miles later the diff locked up. In his hurry to get the diff reversed, he forgot to add the lube. DOUBLE BHM.

I'm resisting the urge to constantly outdo everyone with my long list of bonehead moments. I used to call them blonde moments, then when I shaved my head, they became bald moments.

So I'll tell on my buddy instead. He owns a crane business in three states, and he owned all the cranes used on the TV show Mythbusters. In a few episodes, he ran the crane, like the one about Star Wars. He also owned the crane in the lasted Jurassic Park movie. Anyway, back in high school, I helped him rebuild a 326 engine for his 69 Firebird. We got it all together and then into the car. We where tightening down the motor mounts when he glanced up on a shelf in his Dad's garage and noticed the pilot bushing sitting there. OOPS!!! So we pulled it out again, put in the pilot bushing, and did it all over again!!!

Com'n, Eddy, Eddy, Eddy... we need to hear another one of your own. Like I told Moss, one BHM per day per person. :D
