Went to Ocean City Md. yesterday and passed two New Holand dealers. Both had two on there lots, one each with loaders and one each without. They sure are pretty.

But for $ 36 K just think of the cab tractor you could get with all kinds of implements...not to mention if you caught a good deal on a slightly used tractor what you could get for $36 K - I think NH really missed a great marketing opportunity by not pricing this at about $18 K ....then they may have sold a bunch of them...Just my opinion..

Amen...probobly the coolest idea/tractor to come down the pike in years. NH will probably poop all over themself the first time they actually find someone silly enough to pay MSRP for one :thumbsup:

Seems like most every NH dealer has one on their lot. These machines haven't set any sales records, as far as I can tell. Gorgeous!!! But, the price just isn't in the ballpark of reality, especially the chromed model.

It's been said over and over, but the tribute was off target from the get go. The original was the "every-man" tractor. It was 22-25 hp, give or take. This tribute was too big, both in size and in price. What a shame. I lay awake dreaming of NH having done this on a slightly smaller boomer frame and brought it to market at 20-22K. Now that would have been a tribute to the spirit of the 8N.

Maybe in 2012, they will move one brake pedal to the other side, put in a 3 speed manual transmission, cut back a few hp and call it a 2N.

Magicheater; Is that REW Motors ? I tried top buy a bradco hoe and a TC 55 from them. They just were not interested in discounting them, although they had a couple in stock.

They should have used the tt45a platform, painted red and grey, then put 4wd on it. Could have sold thousand of those tractors. I work at a dealership in Texas and we wouldn't think of having one on our lot.

I just got back from driving one at the newholland dealer. Those things are so much fun with the CVT tranny. I wish i would've had my camera. If only i could afford one.

Sadly, that dealer is probably taking a loss at that price. Even so, it's still about $2k too high in my opinion. As a buyer, I could accept that the new CVT, turbo-diesel with 50 hp, and retro/artistic styling is going to cost me more money, but not $10,000 more.

The Boomer 8N seems to have been a pet project of some NH exec's relative with nobody wanting to stand up to them and say, "Get real!" They let the "bling factor" get out of hand and convinced themselves that people would pay that kind of price for a tractor fit only to pull a hayride wagon at the fall church social. They misjudged their market and certainly misjudged the economy. Now their newer-better idea sits in front of dealerships as parking lot queens. Frankly, I feel sorry for the dealers.

Better for the dealer to sell at a loss than to keep his money tied up. Every day that tractor sits there it's costing him money.

IF he'd drop the price to 27500 and throw in the dual brake kit and a couple remotes......

Not sure where the $10K too expensive is coming from. By way of comparison, a JD 4320, eHydro, 400cx FEL has MSRP of $34.249 plus any other options one might care to add. Say 15% discount = $29,111. As best I can see the Boomer 8N is not a stripped down economy model and it is a 50 HP tractor.

I agree they may well have missed the mark as to target market. In my opinion, had they done something in the 25 - 35 HP range and priced accordingly they might have sold a lot more. For example, I have no need whatsoever for a 50 hp tractor, but might well have been willing to pay a styling premium for a 30 hp + or - tractor.

Well that's really my point. I suspect many of those who buy a 50 hp tractor actually use it quite a bit as a tractor and perhaps leave them sitting outside. Except for the FEL bucket and the BH bucket there aren't really any scratches on my JD and it spends idle time in a heated shed. If a 30 - 33 hp 8N were available, even if priced at a bit of a premium over comparable units, I could use it for my purposes and not scratch it up.

Of course the price is outrageous compared to 25 - 30 hp tractors, but when compared to the 48 hp JD 4320, it's at least in the price ballpark. I think they aimed at the wrong target market.

Saw my first boomer 8N today loaded on a trailer with a 2816 and 3535 Mahindra as well when we came back by Wells Tractor Co in Paris TN today. Learning on here that Mahindra has taken over the world I thought I would check out this dealer 23 miles south of me.

I first thought the boomer 8N was a painted up red belly Ford with a FEL and was confused who make it until I saw the NH logo after the name. My daughter (12) said if I bought any tractor she wanted it to be the boomer 8N so I guess it has appeal to some.

In NH they also had a 250TL and two TD5050's. Besides the two Mahindra's on the trailer they had a 4625, 4525, 6530, 2816 and a 4530 on the yard that I could see.

you are exactly right

When I found the 8N Boomer while I was researching tractors last winter, I thought long and hard about buying one, but in the end reality set in.
I loved my old 8N, and would have loved to have a new one, but there is no way in hedouble hockey sticks I am going to pay that much money for nostalgia

I stopped by the local MF/NH dealer yesterday and there sat the Boomer 8N outside. I asked the price and the guy was embarrassed to tell me $34,000. The guys at work that drive by there alot said it had been setting there since May.

It's cuter than a speckled pup, but cute only goes so far with a tractor. If I were to win the lottery AND they made one available with a manual transmission I would be a customer. I don't think either of those conditions will materialize any time soon.
