New Holland 1030
Gentlemen, I'm the proud papa of a TC33D with 344.8 hrs. on the ticker. I'm almost as proud of my baby as I am of my children and that's going way out there on a limb. I haven't had so much as a minutes problem with this tractor and hopefully won't have any in the future. I use my unit almost every day during the landscaping season, cutting grass, moving product, overseeding etc.. Here's the problem! A very close friend of mine sells Orange tractors and he was talking to me today at his dealership. I'm looking at a new ZTR Kubota for the business. He stated that he had heard at a trade show that the Hydro units on the Boomer series were failing and that New Holland was buying back tractors due to the problem. Not slipping hydros but failing units. Well I have read all the posts and haven't found anything yet but I am concerned about the possibility of a problem with the units. So, have any of you heard of this problem and if so which units are affected. Like I said I love my Boomer and want to keep her for as long as she will work for me. She does get alot of TLC after work, shower, nails done, lube and so on. I have a need to know since my warranty expires on 4-28 of this year so if anyone has an answer please let me know ASAP.

Scaper, I don't know a thing about that, so I guess he could be right, but I'd sure be skeptical of that guy.

Check under TC45 recalls,I think that will fill you in a little more. Tom

Not a single Boomer hydro failure @ the dealership where I work, dozens of units out in all sizes. The campaign (recall) on the class III TC's involves the range gearbox, not the hydro. In 4 years, I have yet to see the innards of even the hydro unit from even the older 12,15 and 1620's, and we have many of them out, some with well over 2000hrs. Proper use and maintainence of the NH hydro (and just about all others) will yield excellent service life. The guy may know of a couple isolated cases, but not here.

I haven't heard of any problems myself, but I was hoping for a dealer mechanic's response to this one. I remember when I bought my unit from Leslie Fogs in New Jersey, the owner Bruce Carter told me that they only had one trans to split and it was due to neglect of a serious nature, ( Like no service for 3 or 4 years) type of thing. I love this tractor and feel that my friend might have just a tad of blue envey because I didn't buy another Orange unit from him when I was ready, two years ago. I owned a B7100 that I loved and it served me very well for five years of very hard use but I maintained it by the book. That little tractor did some pretty amazing things. I liked the new Kubota's but couldn't get comfortable on the B2710 and the 3010 was a bit to heavy for my use. So I looked at the Boomers since I had heard such good reports on them. Boy what a dream this unit has been, great ergonomics and field of view from the driver seat. And that seat is the best I have ever sat on. Plenty of leg room for my small (6'7") frame. So searve me up another piece of rasin pie I love my blue rasins!!! Scaper

Gotta be honest, Scaper, I think I'd start looking for a different dealer. I hate it when someone tells me about a defect they'd "heard about" and can't back it up... when all they're trying to do is get me to by their own product. I think a person is as likely to lie to me after the sale as he was before /w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif.

Scaper,

I have one of the class III boomers that needs a range gear replacement. Other than that, I have not heard of any wholesale hydro or tranny (or anything else) issue. I've been on this board for almost a year now. It is completely impossible for me to imagine that some massive hydro failure has slipped by the collective experience of this board. I think your buddy is referring to the range gear problem as outlined above. I'm thinking this story just got taller with each telling.

My wife and I talked about this last night after the little ones went to bed. She said about the samething as a few of you have mentioned. Danny was upset when I bought the new blue two years ago. He said I would have been happier if I had stayed Orange. Well he hasn't heard a complaint from me yet so maybe he's trying to get me going a bit. I have told him every time I have seen him how nice this tractor is. But he did treat me well when I bought from him in the past. And he knows I wasn't comfy on the new models. Hell I even stayed my purchase for the intro of the new 2710. But I didn't fit!! The foot controls were too high for my long legs. The 3010 was to sluggish in high range and when I called Kubota's design center in Cal. with a tech question and told them of a problem with the units I had driven, they blew me off. They told me that there was no problem and I told them to check this site and another site for about 250 posts to the contrary, from owners. If Kubota wants to blow me off before I buy, oh well I'll look at a dif. tractor. Not to mention the 1000 lbs. or so of extra weight the Kubota has!! I gotta stop, I'm not trying to bash Orange, they are wonderful tractors as are most of the major brands. I'm just thankful I bought BLUE!! Scaper

Scaper it was just the opposite for me for my first pick was a NH,and the dealer and I just couldn't connect and I have no regrets for purchasing a Kubota,so I understand where your coming from.
One has to be comfortable w/there investment.
