Depending on what you intend to do with that big stump, you might be able to just push it to a final resting place (hole).

That's not a bad idea. Too bad I don't have a backhoe. I'd just dig a hole, push it in, cover it up. But I think I'm going to have to take it down to my brush pile. Which is 500-600 yards away. It used to be a whole tree. I sawed it up and hauled the logs down there. Lifted 'em myself onto a trailer. Don't want to EVER experience anything like that again. Hence, the grapple!!:D

I'd like to try and see if I can pull a small tree (2-3") out of the ground. Sounds like something to look into tomorrow!

Very cool. How much does the grapple weigh?

806#. It's pretty heavy. If I didn't have such a BIG tractor I'd definately get a light-duty one.

I'm curious about the amount of pressure the grapple can develop. If you really try to pull out a small tree, take a picture please. Thanks

BTW, nice setup :)

I have to tell you Chuck I have tractor envy looking at that beautiful machine. I think that is without question one of the prettiest tractors I have ever seen. I have been kind of tied up with work and have not been able to comment on it since you brought it home but I have looked at all your pictures. I have not the justification or the funds for a tractor of that class but I look forward to enjoying it through your experiences. I think the thing I enjoy most about TBN is the ability to experience a variety of equipment through the lives of other people. My hat is off to you & I look forward to your many projects to come. That is a Fine machine and just a pleasure to look at.

chuck, you should be able to push it with the loader bucket or grapple. You will be amazed how much this tractor can push. I have pushed rocks weighing more than 10,000 lbs quite some distance. It does leave some tracks on the grass however so if you are concerned about that you may have to cut it up in pieces that can be lifted. Attached is a pic of the largest tree I was able to lift. The FEL would not lift it after grapping it so had to curl it all the way to move the center of gravity closer in and raise the RPMs and then the FEL would ever so slowly raise it up for transport. Good luck nice looking grapple.

You guys are going to make me feel guilty with all this "Tractor Envy" directed towards me. You all do have nice tractors. I guess there's always something bigger and better over the horizon. It would be nice if those who are such huge tractor enthusiasts as there are here could have whatever tractor they wanted or needed, exclusive of cost.

Frits--That is one serious tree you're hauling there. I doubt if my stump weighs much more than that. The problem I will have is getting a grip on it and keeping its COG low and close to the tractor. I may trim it some today.

The weather here wasn't great today. Very overcast, 40 F, trying to drizzle. But I got out and picked up some brush. Here is a photo of Botazilla with a mouthful of brush and another of some limbs I had cleaned out from a fence row.
