Well after a bunch of pricing with three different dealers, I actually found out that the prices people are getting on this forum are better than I can do unless I find a dealer who doesn't want to make any money. I ended up not even going with the cheapest place, because I felt the responsiveness of my salesman and service department knowledge were so good at the place I chose. I'm sure I could have done better but honestly I didn't want to bleed the guy for every last $100, since after all is said and done I wanted him to get paid for his hard work. In the end I chose the place because I felt they would be there for me after the sale more than the other places.

So for the record:

JD 3320
- eHydro
- iMatch
- 3rd (rear) SCV
- larger size R4 tires, loaded
- air seat
- automotive cruise
- rear work lights
- warning light brush guards
- front work light kit
- receiver hitch w/ iMatch bushings
MSRP as configured: $20,067
Paid (incl. freight and setup): $18,200

300cx FEL
- 61" HD bucket
- level indicator
- ballast box w/ iMatch bushings
- deluxe brush guard
MSRP as configured: $4,611
Paid (incl. freight and setup): $3,900

JD MX5 rotary cutter
- iMatch bushings
MSRP as configured: $2,099
Paid (incl. freight and setup): $2,000

Frontier BB2060 box blade
- iMatch bushings
MSRP as configured: $1011
Paid (incl. freight and setup): $800

Plus the guy threw in a tractor play set for my kiddo, a $24 value ;)

So all told, the MSRP figured out to $27,788, and I paid $24,900. This turns out to be a hair better than 10% off MSRP.

For the record I probably could have done about $500 better at another dealer, who was quoting me the same on everything but $400 less on the FEL and $100 less on the MX5. But he took days to get back to me on questions instead of hours, and didn't have nearly as much helpful advice.

I'm happy with the deal I got and feel like I'm going to have a good relationship with my dealer in the coming years.

Now I just have to wait 3 days, and he's delivering it to my doorstep! I'm excited :)

Congrats, that sounds like a wonderful new toy! Err, tractor...

I agree with your logic on who to buy from. When I was shopping I wasn't going to keep talking with someone who offered unreasonably high prices, but I also wasn't going to decide based on just the last $100 or $500 that I might get off. Good service and responsiveness were important, and I can tell you that as a first-time tractor owner I've been using that service a couple times already, and so far so good.

I agree that many internet price claims are exaggerated. I always try to get the best price I can, but am always courteous in my dealings with the dealer. Sounds like you got a decent price anyway. The MSRP has been reduced from what I understand. The dealers cost is the same but MSRP has been reduced to make JD appear more competitive for online price comparers. This effectively reduces the amount of discount one needs to receive to be comparable to the 15% that used to be the norm for a "good" deal. I hope that made sense.

Well, I couldn't resist. I sprung for the 448 backhoe with a 18" HD bucket. Now I'm really set up to do some damage

I paid $7750 for the 448 + HD bucket upgrade. Not the best price but at this point I was changing the order at the last moment and didn't feel like haggling. I bet I could have done $7500 if I had tried harder, and even less if I wanted to play dealers off each other. But the dealer PDI was high on the backhoe, which made it hard to get a good deal off MSRP, even with a sizeable discount.

Now I'm happy :) Oh and my tractor comes today (knock on wood). My dealer is going to take it back in a few weeks to install the backhoe.
