I have an 04' Grand L3130. It took a few weeks to get used to it but now I love it. I had a John Deere 790 pior to this & the kubota by far exceeds that JD. I demoed all the tranny's & personaly found the shuttle shift - GST to be the best for performance. Smitty what are you primary uses for you CUT?

I went from a Ford 8N to a Kubota L3000DT a few years ago, I owned the Ford for over 20 years. I will admit the first few weeks using the Kubota I wondered if I was going to find the Kubota able to do all I did with the 8N. My wife suggested I keep the Ford, so I did for a while.

After a few weeks I found that I didn't have any need or desire to jump on the Ford. Getting used to the difference in weight and stability has taken some time. I sold the Ford last fall and don't regret it a bit.

You may or may not find this to be true in your case. If you can go back to what you had or afford the tractor you really want that is the thing to do.

I'd talk to your dealer about tradding it in on a larger model. With just 2 hours they might be able to get you a full refund.

I agree. If there was only two hours on it I know my dealer would take it back. I tried out my old B7500 with no paperwork signed all summer before he came out with the paperwork and asked it I'd be keeping it. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I was waiting for a RFM to come in all this time, but still, absolutely nothing in writing because he knew I was looking at a larger model, too.

Thanks for all the good replies.

I'll check with the dealer. He didn't have anything in the 4300 series when I was there. The dealership is about 50 miles from where I live.

On how much I gave for the tractor:
Tractor: 11,894
Bucket: 3,100

I hope not to take less than 14,100 for package if I can sell it. If the dealer will trade, I'll try to move up to the biggest 2wd Kubota I can get without a bucket.

Thanks again,

Smittyd3

We have about 13 acres, some of it is in a low area. We had about 4 acres of pines cut last summer, because pine borers were killing them. I had been using the 140 and scrape blade to push the limbs and tops into piles and burn them.

I usually cut about 5 acres of grass with it.

Thanks,

Smittyd

Hi Smittyd3,
I recently just purchsed an L3130. I agree with you on some points. We have several tractor brands between my brother-in-laws and I and when we run a chisel plow we always tend to use the Ford 2000. It just pulls better than any of the others. One brother in law has a Kubota L35 and when he had the backhoe off I tried it on the chisel plow and even in 4wd it didn't pull as well as the ford 2000 with it's 2wd. I believe a lot of it is the weight distribution of the tractor. That's one of the big reasons I went with the 3130. It has more of the feel of the Ford and I believe it pulls better than the smaller framed Kubotas.
By the way Smittyd3. I saw you are putting it in the Market bulletin. Are you in Georgia?

First it sounds like you need a tractor with more weight, the 4300 doesn't weigh much. The L3130 and that series weighs more.

I can't help but feel you may not be using the tractor appropriately or don't know the full usefulness of the loader.

A neighbour used to an old plain jane 2wd tractor borrowed our neighbours 4wd with loader. He didn't realize new tractors could shift on the go so he would try to start in high gear. He didn't realize the joystick went side to side so he would drive up to the pile, shovel the bucket full, drive, then shovel out the bucket. He also didn't know you could put it in 4wd so you could drive up and down hills etc.

I'm not saying you don't understand it but some times it is easier for us to keep using a tool in a familar way without learning new methods.

The 3400 is a small machine, you may be more interested in an MX5000 or L series.

Try to return it to the dealer, they can order in machines that aren't on the lot.

It sounds like you are having trouble getting used to the weight of a CUT. The older tractors were a lot heavier than their present day cousins. A lot more steel and a lot less alloys/aluminum. I sold a 601 ford when I got my new L4300 and really only miss the width of the rear wheels. So far the weight has not been a factor but I'm sure I will need it if I was ever to put a plow on it.
