Still looking since thats half the fun!
A few months ago i posted on people I finally got a used truck, after a few months of searching and finally selling my small nissan I found this gem in the paper.
It was owned by an older guy (1 owner) and it is very clean. Runs great except its a/c system is not working.
Paid about $3000 for it's an 1989 Chevy 2500 145,000 miles 4wd, 350 V8. Being a 3/4 ton i wont have to worry about what I CANT tow like with my Nissan.
But compared to the beaters in the price range I am happy to have found this.Being 16 years old its in better shape than some of 1996 models i was looking at. Tow rating is 9000lbs using the bumper hitch.Probaly more using a 5th wheel type.

Its paid for and for what I sold the nissan for I will be able to pocket some $700. (more money towards the tractor fund /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Im glad my wife talked me into waiting and shopping around a bit. Im kinda bad at buying the first thing I see.

I attached a picture for you guys and thank you for the advice.

Are you sure thats correct?
Most bumper hitches are rated at 2000lbs.
Does truck have a receiver hitch?

If it's as good as it looks, nice deal.

I was suprised the bumper stated 9000lbs. But since it is a 4wd I am going to get a reciever hitch anyway since i feel more safe with those.
Bird, Its runs like champ. better than 98 nissan with only 90,000 miles.

Looks nice!!! Good find. Sometimes it's hard to wait on one like that to come along, but when you find one like you did it sure makes the wait worth it.
Way to go!

Nice looking truck but are you sure it's a 3/4 ton? I only count six lugs where a 3/4 ton will have eight. Maybe it's wheelcovers? For tow ratings, check the sticker on the door post to be sure. You may also need to check the owners manual and know the rear axle code which is on a tag on the differential usually.

Looks to be in fine shape, good luck /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Those are the optional aluminum wheels Chevy offered.

Is the truck a 1500 or a 2500? 1500 = half ton, 2500 = 3/4 ton.

I magnified the picture, but it blurs too much to read the trim on the door.

Chevy made two different trucks that got badged with the 2500 label. One was a 6 lug 7200lbs GVW and the other was an 8 lug 8600lbs GVW.

Around here you could get $6,000 for that truck. The salt just eats the heck out of everything.

I commonly see trucks around here in the mid 90's with over 100k on them for $10,000. My neighbor bought a 96 with 115k on it for 11g.

IMO you got a deal.
