It's that bad? Maybe paying someone to sand blast it is worth it then...

I figured out which bolts I need to attach the 3/4" thick front plate to the frame on the front of the tractor. Once I bolt the plate on, I can start welding. I still have to install the 220vac circuit from my basement where the breaker box is out to the garage. I bought the breaker and wire Monday. I should have the 220vac circuit done this weekend so I can plug in the arc welder. I'll take some pictures before I start. Still making progress...

Yes, but sounds like the waterpressure sandblaster as Mike linked would avoid the hassles and health concerns associated with dry sandblasting. I have an old pressure washer that needs a new wand and now I'm tempted to go that route too after seeing the info. (Also, forgot to mention, the prices I noted earlier did include one primer coat.)

I picked up a siphon-based dry sandblaster that I used in conjunction with my 30 gal Craftsmen 110V air compressor. I worn a $40-$50 breathing filter mask (like what you would use for applying stains and varnishes) along with a full face mask to cleanup a mowing deck once. It worked well, but as has been mentioned, it makes a horrific mess. I never ingested/breathed a single grain of sand.
