Bought and Excavator

I have been looking . Trying to justify it to myself.. Just for around the farm when needed. it would most likely sit more than in use.
I don't need anything near that large. Possibly 30-35 7500-8000 machine.
I rented one last yr for a week for around $1100.00. Hard to justify 25-30 k (used with low hrs) for occasional use around the farm.

Every time I said I didn't wan't to spend the money cause I'd hardly ever use it , I find that if I have it I use it alot more than I thought I would have . I bring home a mini from work and use it constantly {thumb makes it like having the Hulk as a helper} When I have to bring it back to work it's a sad day.:gloomy: If you have the money just buy it .Remember the one how dies with the most toys wins.:D:drink:

I was stoked when I saw you picked this up, (I follow the channel as well) and I am looking forward to your projects in 2021 and beyond. I even bet this machine becomes the 'retirement' side hussle down the road, worth every penny invested today! Truth be told, I picked up a 30yr old Kubota KX-91 this fall, after watching your trail construction for a second time with that Bobcat you rented. Before the snow flew, I moved over a hundred feet down on new trail in just over an hour and a half, a job that would have taken almost a full day with my JD compact and hoe. Right tool for the job(s) will be worth it everytime! Congrats OWTM!

Nice! You have that granite poking up everywhere on your land? Years ago I worked near Keene New Hampshire Blasting for a road job. I quickly realized why they call it the granite state

Having a mini ex hanging around the place is without a doubt, a huge bonus. My home property is 95 acres, with no shortfall on projects. My farm property is 55 acres with a dozen old fallen down barns, some rather big, that we are currently taking down with the ex and cleaning up with the new MX. With the thumb on the ex I am able to strip off the tin roofs, separate the wood and metal, and then load the metal to a dump trailer. Just this year alone this machine has saved me 15 to 20 grand. I bought mine in 2015 and currently have 200 hours on it; it gets cheaper everyday to have it.

I haven’t had mine long enough to get much work out of it yet but the 36k purchase was worth like $8200 for a tax write off.

I am lucky to only have one section poking up, no issues where it is. Most of my woods is a slope, with poorly drained soils causing a lot of tip overs. I hope to clear some paths, redirect some drainage into a pond, then keep it all maintained. I spent most of my life in New England, but we had moved for my Dad's job when I was a kid. I spent my last two years of high school south of Pittsburgh,('86). I remember putting up a basketball hoop digging out the hole by hand. The clay was so thick I felt like I was making bricks with a square spade shovel. Not a lot of rock though. Your part of the country is one of the prettier areas of Pennslyvania. I went to a camp in Butler one summer, always liked that area.

OWTM I too recently discovered your you tube channel. Very interesting and especially like the more information less bull chit format.
