Bought my first hand gun!

Well I just learned that my order for a P226 40SW Elite, will be shipped tomorrow. I ordered this pistol 13 months ago. I actually was beginning to think the order was lost.

That is a nice gun, I have several Sigs and came dangerously close to buying the Sig 220 Elite about a month ago, but had to pass. I have no real need for one, I just like them.

Walmarts, Academy's, Cabelas, Dicks, etc all around here have bare shelves for most of the typical calibers like .45 ACP, .40, 9mm, 223, etc. that are usually purchased in quantity. Decent supply on larger typical hunting rounds like 270, 30-06, etc.

Same goes for the online vendors like Cheaper than Dirt, Sportsmansguide, etc. Wait times of up to several months for those popular calibers.

If you just can't stand to wait, you can pay roughly 2X through some small vendors and private sales on places like Gunbroker.

I've had 9mm on order since last October, delivery keeps getting pushed out, now looking at June.

I have walked in lateer in the day over the past few weeks and seen piles of either 40, 9, 380, or 556. You can only buy 1 box and its usually not there the next day but I can find it at our Academy. The last 3-4x in academy they have had 556 at close to luch time. THis is the $9 box stuff too.

I can see you need an attitude adjustment! Sometimes you have to buy something just because you want to! No other reason necessary...or so I keep telling myself...and Sharn Jean.

You know, you just may be on to something there.

My wife has two ways of saying, "Sure, go ahead honey, do what you want." One way she really means and the other translates roughly into proceed and you will experience one of Dante's circle of h***...

My wife and I went shopping for hand guns and setteled on a Sig SP2022 9mm. We went to the local range and rented 8-10 different guns and both liked the Sig the best. My wife amazed me with how fast she took to shooting the hand gun, her first time. She was drawing center mass from 7 yards on her second clip.

I have been having a bear of a time finding ammo. Walmart..etc is bare. I have found a little on the internet and got 500 rounds at the last Houston gun show for 28 cents a round. I am wanting to keep from 800 -1000 rounds in my inventory. Now I am thinking about getting a second 9mm for our condo in downtown houston so I don't have to drag the Sig back and forth.

I am also thinking I want an AR-15 type weapon for the ranch and may get one when or if the prices drop a little. Any suggestions on a brand or model rifle?

Since you travel to Houston from Dripping Springs I presume you come in on 290. Try Freedom Munitions store off the last exit from 290 before Beltway 8; they are in some same shopping center as Harbor Freight. They often have bulk ammo there even if they show out of stock online. They opened the small store last fall. Prices are higher than before the panic but inline with current market.

Yes I have taken her 4-5 times and we have shot about 500 rounds. She loves shooting it but hates the loud AK's at the range. I am looking for an outdoor range.

It is hard to beat the Sig P226. Only prob I have had is grip size for for my wife is too thick. Double stacked mags tend to require a thicker hand grip. But the cure for that is let her use the Sig Mosquito, 22lr scaled down P226. As sweet a shooting 22lr semi handgun would be hard to find. Match them up with the Sig 522 tactical and you have an afternoon of fun for the whole family.
