Thanks Tom, can't really think about holding my wife back...this is retaliation for the Harley. (I also was able to work out a new Duramax 4x4...to pull the horse trailer ... wink, wink)

Mike, you're right, we have to get another one once we bring the first horse to our house.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes from all, I like to use the forums, dieselplace and chevyhhr.net.

Nice to see all the Navy salty dogs on here. I went to buy my tractor and the owner of the place was a Vietnam Vet river boat sailor, his son was a former Navy river boat sailor from the more recent conflicts. Great to give my business to a vet.

Gary, I bought a post hole auger. Found a man around here that sells 3" +- cedar posts 8' long for $3 each. I will see if he'll give me a deal on a bulk order. I heard of a method to put them in, dig the hole, put some gravel in the bottom, put the post in then fill part way with sand. Wet it down to settle the sand, then top it off with sand and wet again. I've heard this works pretty good, they even do this on corner posts. If anybody has any insight I would appreciate it.

Thanks, Mark

I tamp the post holes with a broom handle when filling in the holes, add a few inches and tamp around the post, add more dirt and tamp again. Works good in most cases with a little water added and sets up quickly to use.
