if you don’t miss a single year i agree with him at 100%. You will go through the engine, the tyranny and everything else and the body will still be rust free …
They must use a lot less road salt where you live than they do here. Also, FF will wash off over the course of the winter...one or two car washes will do a number on it, even driving thru puddles. As I said, it will extend the life of a vehicle for a few years, but it's no magic cure-all.
I subscribe to the do it when new, or don't do it at all school of thought. When I got my last new vehicle - a 93 Dodge van, I drove from the dealership to Ziebart and had it undercoated. Thirty years later, just a little rust out around the rear wheels.
Maybe I'm mistaken, but I don't think of Virginia as a state where vehicles have much of a rust issue to begin with. Big demand for southern vehicles up here for that reason! Well, maybe not ones from SW Florida...

I’d do fluidfilm or one of the similar products. Woolwax, surface shield from blaster, etc. plenty of videos online showing year to year how well
It works in salt and snow areas.

2022 Ford F-150 extended cab. Would love to hear some of your opinions-experience about undercoating. Living in Wisconsin rust is a really big issue.
I’m definitely not a high miles driver and at 68 years old this could be my last new truck.
The truck will outlast you if you wash it regularly.

I live in Ohio and I use a product called wool wax it doesn’t wash off like fluid film and it creeps up the metal I applied it once and only do touch ups I run thru carwashs with undercarriage sprayers also

FLUID FILM
Been using it for years and have zero rust.
WoolWax is good to, but I feel it's thicker and doesn't creep into crevices as well.

so AMSOIL makes a heavy duty metal protector that I sprayed on this frame when new in 2017. Lasts upwards of ten years. It never dries it leaves a heavy oil residue that completely repeals water. Sprays like any spray oil dries to a waxy tar like substance that does not cake or crack to retain moisture. Better than wool wax and lasts years.

While many here have been recommending Fluid Film (yes its a good product as I live in the U.P. of MI and use it yearly but will be switching) there is a completely new product from PB Blaster (called Surface Shield) that actually stands up to pressure washing and lasts 2 yrs or more. There are YT vids on it also recommending it because it lasts longer than 1 yr.

If you get it done, I’d first apply some Rustoleum Rust Reformer or similar to inert any rust: turns iron oxide into black iron sulphide.

Emphatically no! All truck manufacturers have some form of rust proofing already applied, and there are weep holes to drain any water that gets into body panels. Undercoating can plug the weep holes and trap moisture, increasing rust.

If you live in an area (Salt Belt) then I highly recommend you get it OIL SPRAYED. It is a specific mix of Waxes and an oil based carrier that protects Brake and fuel lines, Frames, gas tanks etc.
I have used it annually for decades. It is not a Coating like Ziebart that cracks and holds salt and moisture. Living in Southern Ontario it is certainly necessary unless you lease the vehicle.
Door Posts, Hatch and trunk and hoods are done, sometimes drilling holes that are then capped with secure plastic plugs. Don't park on your Concrete or Asphalt for 3 days as it drips dry and when you have it done, your vehicle will 'smoke' for a mile or so while the stuff burns off the Exhaust system.
Krown in this area does it on a hoist. Do it before the first snow. Deicing is now a Sugar Beet Mix of chemicals applied before the storm hits. I would especially do it on a Ford due to the mix of Al and Fe.
